Best Local Shops To Visit On Small Business Saturday In Atlanta

November 5, 2013 7:00 AM

Atlanta is known for its fleet of spacious shopping malls, including several high-end discount outlet malls. However, this year you may want to avoid the mania of Black Friday at these crowded venues and opt to shop Small Business Saturday instead. Best of all, if you pre-register an American Express card online, the company will give you a $25 credit if you purchase over $25 at a small business on Saturday, November 30. A complete listing of the participating businesses will be available as of November 21, but we have chosen a few to get you started.

The MudFire Gallery
175 Laredo Drive
Decatur, GA 30030
(404) 377-8033

This gallery will be featuring a sale on Small Business Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Stop by to check out its pottery, featuring ceramics from a variety of local artists. There will be plenty of interesting and unusual gifts on hand, from smaller items like vases and mugs to entire collections of dinnerware. You might even find something for yourself!

Wall of Shoes
50 Upper Alabama St.
Atlanta, GA 30303
(404) 584-2005

Underground Atlanta has a large selection of shops where you can find something a little off the beaten path. Wall of Shoes is just that, a great little shop containing oodles of shoes. Every woman on your list wants more shoes, that’s guaranteed, and you might find a great steal on the sale wall. You can always get her a gift certificate if you aren’t sure of her size and style.

Willis Boutique
119 Martin Luther King Jr Drive
Atlanta, GA 30303
(404) 659-3290

You might not find this store on your own, but it is a great little treasure trove of unique gifts. You can find all types of accessories here, from jewelry to handbags and even wigs. There is sure to be something different for that woman on your list who has everything.

Little Shop of Stories
133A E. Court Square
Decatur, GA 30030
(404) 373-6300

If you have children on your gift list but you don’t want to buy them the same toys all of their friends will have, consider stopping in to Decatur’s Little Shop of Stories. This quaint local favorite right on Decatur Square packs a lot of charm into its small space. The store has all of the children’s books you could imagine, as well as plush toys and other piquant gift ideas. Adults will want to stop by legendary local coffee shop Java Monkey for a break in the shopping day.

Northlake Mall
4800 Briarcliff Road N.E.
Atlanta, GA 30345
(770) 938-3565

You may find yourself at Northlake Mall anyway, and if so, be sure to stop by the Small Business Saturday Holiday Expo from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 30. The mall is doing its part to help local businesses by arranging for a group of home-based businesses to have its own space in the mall. You don’t even have to go out of your way to patronize these businesses, and you’re likely to find a more unique present for someone on your list.
