You may recognize Chef Art Smith from appearances on TV’s “Top Chef” program, as he is one of Atlanta’s more well-known celebrity chefs, having formerly served as Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef for 10 years. This is a great choice to spoil your dad for brunch or dinner, as there are a range of indulgent options, from bourbon apple pie French toast to steaks, fried chicken, or rack of lamb. There’s even a separate ham bar so that Dad can get his charcuterie fix. Dessert options include a twelve layer red velvet cake, a caramel chocolate pretzel pie, or a banana pudding pie, among others.

Ray’s Killer Creek is a great spot for a festive brunch buffet. On Father’s Day, they will be offering the buffet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at $33 for adults and $17 for children aged 5 to 10 years. There will be a regular dinner menu starting at 5 p.m., but the brunch buffet is really where it’s at with Ray’s. Definitely make a reservation in advance, because it tends to be very busy on special event days, but it’s an easy way to find something to please even the most finicky eaters in your group. From breakfast favorites like omelettes and waffles to heartier fare like fried chicken and salmon croquettes, there are plenty of options so that no one will go home hungry.

If your dad enjoys watching planes take off, you can’t beat the views at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant, located near the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport. Since reopening in 2009, this has become one of Atlanta’s favorite brunch spots, and it’s great for dads, given the military theme. There is a even wall of heroes dedicated to WWII veterans. There is a popular brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sundays, featuring omelettes, a carving station, a build-your-own Belgian waffle bar, beer cheese soup, and all your brunch favorites.

Sun In My Belly is an awesome choice for brunch at any time of the year, but it’s a really fun Father’s Day option. Located in Kirkwood, it’s very popular with locals, and brunch reservations are only accepted for parties of six or more, so if you have a smaller group, you’ll want to get there early to avoid a wait. They also cater, so you can arrange to have your brunch catered at home if you’d rather stay in and don’t want to cook. Try the quiche or omelette of the day — always a tasty option!

If your dad likes fried chicken, this is the place to take him for Father’s Day. There are also plenty of other options on the brunch menu, including the South City Breakfast of cheddar scrambled eggs, grits, and bacon, and a buttermilk malted waffle, but the real star of the show is the fried chicken. Of course, there are desserts available, too, like banana pudding, pineapple upside-down cake, and pecan pie. This is known as one of the best Southern restaurants in Atlanta, and it’s a consistently solid option.
