HERTFORDSHIRE, UK (CBS Local) — Calling all “Disney-mad nannies out there.” We’ve found a job posting for you.

A family in Brooksman Park, a village in Hertfordshire, southeast England, has posted an ad on Childcare.co.uk for a part-time nanny to watch their twin girls during the week with a “slightly unusual request” — you will be dressed as a Disney princess.

“Like most 5-year-olds, our girls are obsessed with Disney and we feel this would be the best way to communicate some important values,” the ad reads. “We know this isn’t a normal request for nannies, however we think it would be a great way to teach our girls about things like determination, compassion, fearlessness and ambition from strong yet relatable female role models like Princess Tiana, Princess Anna, Belle and Cinderella.”

The family is looking for someone who can play a different princess every month and commit to the character. However, they also said the ideal candidate “won’t be afraid to be a disciplinarian if the twins are naughty or act out – they can be little terrors at times!”

The parents are offering to pay $52,500 a year and cover the cost of all Disney princess costumes. The nanny will also receive 25 vacation/holiday days.

“The role involves picking the girls up after school, four days a week, arranging a variety of Disney-related activities (arts and crafts, baking, singing, etc.), cooking dinner and potentially putting them to bed if we’re late home from work,” the ad says.

Candidates must be looking for a long-term job as the couple wants to keep the nanny in their daughters’ lives “for the foreseeable future.”

“The right person will have a real creative flare as well as a passion for all things Disney and will be able to share that love of those characters with our girls.”

Candidates must also have a clean driving record, first aid training and a minimum of two years “in nannying or a similar role.”

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS Local) — Thousands of poisonous toads have seemingly come out of nowhere to overrun a community in Florida, posing a potential danger to children and pets, according to an expert.

They started appearing last week in a neighborhood in Palm Beach Gardens and now seem to be everywhere, swarming swimming pools, sidewalks and the street outside Jenni Quasha’s home.

“I just see a massive amount of toads or frogs everywhere,” Quasha told WPTV. “You can’t even walk through the grass without stepping on one, they’re covering people’s driveways.”

Toad Busters, a toad removal company, says the pests are cane toads, also known as bufo toads, which secrete a toxic milky substance.

“With the warmer winter and then we had a rain two to three weeks ago, a torrential rain, that caused them to go into a breeding cycle,” said Mark Holladay, a lead technician with Toad Busters. “They’re not safe for pets or children. If a pet was to ingest too many of them, even at that small size, it would cause a problem.”

Quasha said she contacted her homeowner’s association, but was told it’s her responsibility to handle the problem. Meantime, she says with her three kids on spring break, her caughter is scared to walk outside.

“There’s no swimming in the pool and no playing outside and enjoying the outdoors. Just hoping we can figure this out so we can put an end to it.”

Holladay said the problem may not go away anytime soon.

“There will be another influx like this in 22 days when the next batch hatches out, and this is in every community in Florida,” said Holladay.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS Local) — A popular vlogger, who touts the health benefits of a raw vegan diet, is being slammed on social media after she was caught eating fish at a restaurant.

Yovana Mendoza Ayres, who goes by the name Rawvana on her social media channels, was briefly featured in another vlogger’s video last week with a plate of fish in front of her. Fans noted that she appeared caught off guard and embarrassed when the camera panned over to her.

Rawvana apologized to her viewers in a 33-minute video, saying her decision to incorporate eggs and fish into her diet was an “emergency measure” spurred on by various health problems.

“I’m really, really sorry about the way the news was communicated to you, how you had to find out,” she said. “I know that so many of you, you trust me, you listen to me, and you probably feel deceived and lied to and you’re in your whole right to feel that. And for that I ask forgiveness, I’m human.”

Rawvana has been hosting a vlog for the past six years, touting veganism as the cure-all to many ailments and addictions, including alcoholism, poor sleep and smoking.

She amassed nearly 2 million subscribers on her Spanish YouTube channel, nearly half a million on her English channel and 1.3 million followers on Instagram.

In her apology video, Rawvana explained she began to lose her menstrual cycles following a 25-day water fast. She also revealed she was borderline anemic and her hormone levels were pre-menopausal.

Rawvana, who lives in San Diego, said she was advised by a doctor to start incorporating eggs and fish into her diet after she developed digestion issues and was diagnosed with SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth).

Her fans, however, were not too happy with her admission, flooding her confessional video with comments.

“LOL there is nothing wrong eating whatever… the problem is the fraud, the deception, the fake news, the alternative facts… the LIES !!! You are morally bankrupt,” wrote MetaView7.

“Unsubscribed. Not because you aren’t vegan anymore, but because you’re a liar,” Gabrielle Tillmon wrote.

“I always knew there’s was something fishy about this person,” wrote Mujermaravilla3.

Still, others showed support for her health struggles.

“As a health coach, I am proud of you for sharing your journey. Don’t feel guilty about your dietary needs,” Coach Angela wrote. “Veganism is great, plant-based is great, but we all need to listen to our body.”

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (CBS Local) — A disabled Ohio man who walks with a cane says he was attacked by another customer two weeks ago after a dispute over a handicapped parking space.

Todd Oehler said he stopped at a White Castle restaurant in Colerain Township on March 3 for a bite to eat when he spotted a GMC SUV park in a handicapped space with no placard.

“I’d seen a young kid and his girlfriend pulling up and was sitting there and was pursuing to get out and I said, ‘Hey guys, if there’s nothing wrong with you, park over there,’ you know. Well, they took that as an attitude,” Oehler told WLWT.

Oehler, who suffers relentless pain on his left side, said he went into the restaurant to order and the man, who appeared to be in his 20s, followed.

“I turned around and he smacked me right in the mouth and in the nose and you know got me a little bloodied up and then I fell down,” Oehler said.

He said a White Castle worker called 911 as the man fled the restaurant.

“They about to fight, they about to fight Hey! Hey! They’re fighting. Yeah. They’re fighting,” the worker is heard telling 911 dispatchers.

Oehler said doesn’t know why the man got so angry.

“I thought we all (saw) eye-to-eye with handicapped people, elderly people. I thought we still had that instilled in us,” Oehler said.

The suspect was described as wearing a gray sweatshirt and a black hat with a red Cincinnati symbol.

(CBS Philly/CBS Local) – A baby cough syrup sold at Dollar General stores across the country has been recalled due to a possible bacteria contamination. Kingston Pharma, LLC, which manufactures the “DG/health NATURALS baby Cough Syrup + Mucus,” says the cough syrup may be contaminated with Bacillus cereus/ Bacillus circulans.

The bacteria has the potential to cause gastrointestinal illness, including vomiting and diarrhea. The FDA says the symptoms are often mild and self-limiting, although more serious and even lethal cases have occurred.

The FDA warns those at risk for more severe forms of illness include infants, young children, and others with weakened immune systems.

The recalled bottles are labeled, “DG/health NATURALS baby Cough Syrup + Mucus” and come in 2-fluid ounce bottles marked with Lot KL180157 Expiration date 11/20 on the bottom of the carton and back of the bottle label; UPC Code 8 54954 00250 0.

There have been no reports of illness in connection to this cough syrup.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CBS Local) — A Tennessee woman claims a doctor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center operated on the wrong kidney, causing her permanent health problems.

Carla Miller claims she went to VUMC in November 2017 with a fever and pain in her side. Doctors recommended putting a stent in her left kidney, but instead it was placed in her right kidney. Miller had to have additional surgery to fix the error.

As a result, Miller claims her urinary system was damaged and she now requires dialysis for life, CBS affiliate WTVF reported.

Miller filed a $20.5 million dollar lawsuit Tuesday in Davidson County Circuit Court.

“This type of error is shocking and inexcusable in modern medicine, and it is mind-boggling that it could occur at an institution like Vanderbilt,” said Miller’s attorney, Afsoon Hage.

A spokesperson for Vanderbilt University Medical Center said the hospital could not comment on ongoing court cases.

The lawsuit marks the third time this year VUMC has been linked to costly and dangerous medical errors. Last month, another lawsuit claimed a patient died after an unsupervised resident did not properly place a central line in the patient’s throat.

Earlier this year, a former Vanderbilt nurse was indicted for accidentally giving a patient a lethal dose of a powerful paralyzing medication that is used to execute inmates on death row. Charlene Murphey, 75, was left brain-dead and later died. RaDonda Vaught, 35, was charged with one count of impaired adult abuse and one count of reckless homicide.

CARSON CITY, Nevada (CBS Local) — Nevada is considering a bill which would allow more students as young as 14 years old to get a driver’s license under certain circumstances.

Assembly Bill 213 would expand an existing state law that lets rural Nevadans as young as 14 to drive to school where the district doesn’t provide transportation. This bill would grant privilege to charter school students regardless of where their school is located.

The driver’s license would only be good for the school year it’s issued and would restrict students to drive to and from school at speeds 55 miles per hour or less, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

Assemblywoman Alexis Hansen, a Republican from Sparks, said she introduced the bill to make it easier for kids to attend charter schools that they otherwise couldn’t because of a lack of transportation.

“I’m concerned about the disconnect that some students have in high schools, particularly high schools in their neighborhood that might not be a fit for these public school students,” she said. “So they have an opportunity to go a charter school that might be addressing the interests and the kinds of things they want to do.”

Hansen said students who violate any terms of the restrictions would lose their license until age 18.

“This is not for kids who don’t take it seriously,” she said.

The Assembly’s Growth and Infrastructure Committee is set to meet Thursday to discuss the bill. If eventually passed, the bill would be effective July 1, 2019, KSNV reported.

(CBS Local) — Kale, that popular green of the health conscious consumer, has joined the list of 12 fruits and vegetables with the most pesticide residues, according to the Environmental Working Group.

For the third straight year, strawberries top the EWG’s “Dirty Dozen” list. Spinach and kale finished in second and third place, respectively. Other “dirty” foods include nectarines, apples and grapes.

Analysis found 92 percent of conventionally grown kale samples had residue from at least two or more pesticides. Some samples contained as many as 18 different pesticides. The most common pesticide detected was Dacthal, also known as DCPA, which was classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1995 as a possible human carcinogen and banned in the European Union in 2009.

“We were surprised kale had so many pesticides on it, but the test results were unequivocal,” Alexis Temkin, an EWG toxicologist, said in a statement.

The report is based on more than 40,900 fruit and vegetable samples tested by the Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It found nearly 70% of “conventionally grown produce” has pesticides.

Researchers say consuming pesticides have been linked to health issues like cancer and fertility concerns.

Avocados, sweet corn and pineapples top the EWG’s “Clean Fifteen” list.

The nonprofit-nonpartisan environmental organization has annually ranked pesticide contamination in popular fruits and vegetables since 2004. It urges consumers to buy and eat organic produce, especially fruits and vegetables found on the “Dirty Dozen” list.

But others view the report with skepticism.

The Alliance for Food and Farming, a non-profit that represents organic and non-organic growers, said the “Dirty Dozen” list is “unsupportable.” It points to FDA and USDA data which shows “more than 99% of the produce sampled had residues far below Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) safety levels, if present at all.”

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (CBS Local) — A video that shows a moving truck dragging a dog down a street in Memphis, Tennessee, has caught the attention of local authorities.

“Stuff like that makes me sick. Turns my stomach, because I really love dogs,” local resident Joe Franklin told CBS affiliate WREG.

The person who shot the video said on her Facebook page that she stopped the truck and told a woman who was driving that she was dragging the dog. The driver said she didn’t know.

It’s still unclear what led up to the dog being dragged down Millbranch. Police think it was an accident since they never received any calls about it. Neither did Memphis Animal Services.

But even if it was an accident, officials say someone should be held accountable.

“Unfortunately, at this time there is not enough information for us to identify the driver in order to investigate this matter,” MAS said in a statement. “If anyone can identify the driver, or has a license plate number, they can contact us.”

“If it’s an accident, that’s something different. But just continuing and dragging the dog, something needs to be done about that,” said Franklin.

If the driver did forget their dog was tied up, then Memphis Animal Services says that’s still a problem. They say always check what’s in and around your vehicle before driving off.

Officials agree, saying pets are no different than people walking in the street or kids left in cars.

WALTON, Ky. (CBS Local) — A high school student in Kentucky is suing his local health department after he was barred from playing basketball because he’s not vaccinated against chickenpox.

Jerome Kunkel, a senior at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart/Assumption Academy in Walton, refuses to get the chickenpox vaccine, citing his Christian faith. He and his father allege that he’s being discriminated against because of religious beliefs.

“For the health department to say we have to get vaccines in order to go to school, that’s infringing upon my First Amendment right,” Kunkle told CBS affiliate WKRC.

But health officials say they’re just trying to protect the public by containing an outbreak of the highly contagious disease that has affected 32 people at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart/Assumption Academy.

The Northern Kentucky Health Department announced last week that all students at the school who don’t have “proof of vaccination or proof of immunity against chickenpox will not be allowed to attend school until 21 days after the onset of rash for the last ill student or staff member.”

This also affects the school’s sports and extracurricular activities, which have been canceled to avoid spreading the illness to other schools and places.

Kunkle and his father, Bill, say any vaccine that uses aborted fetal cells is immoral, illegal and sinful.

“Since 1973, Roe v. Wade to now, they’ve killed 60 million, butchered 60 million babies and they’re going to rub it in a Christian’s face by taking that vaccine and putting aborted baby cells in it and putting it in your body,” Bill Kunkle said.

The chickenpox vaccine is not derived from aborted fetuses, CNN reported.

“There are a number of vaccines made in descendent cells of aborted fetuses” dating back several decades, according to the National Catholic Bioethics Center, which derives its messages from the teachings of the Catholic Church.

“Since that time the cell lines have grown independently. It is important to note that descendent cells are not the cells of the aborted child. They never, themselves, formed a part of the victim’s body,” according to the NCBC.

“One is morally free to use the vaccine regardless of its historical association with abortion. The reason is that the risk to public health, if one chooses not to vaccinate, outweighs the legitimate concern about the origins of the vaccine,” the NCBC writes. “This is especially important for parents, who have a moral obligation to protect the life and health of their children and those around them.”

DAVAO, Philippines (CBS Local) — A young whale whose carcass washed up in the Philippines on Friday died of “dehydration and starvation” after consuming 88 pounds of plastic bags, scientists said.

The whale had been “vomiting blood before it died,” according to Darrell Blatchley, president and founder of the D’Bone Collector Museum, a natural history museum in the Philippine city of Davao.

The whale, found in Mabini, Compostela Valley, was taken to the museum for a necropsy and it was determined that it had died from ingesting plastic.

The museum said in a statement that this was the most plastic its team had ever seen in the stomach of a whale, and described the discovery as “disgusting.”

“I was not prepared for the amount of plastic,” Blatchley said. “Roughly 40 kilos of rice sacks, grocery bags, banana plantation bags and general plastic bags. Sixteen rice sacks in total.”

He added that cetaceans — a family of aquatic mammals that includes whales and dolphins — don’t drink water from the ocean but obtain their water from the food they eat. As the whale was no longer able to consume large amounts of food due to the ingested plastic, it died of “dehydration and starvation,” Blatchley said.

In the last 10 years, the museum has recovered 61 whales and dolphins of which 57 have died due to fishing nets, dynamite dishing and plastic garbage. It called on governments to take action against those who “continue to treat waterways and oceans as dumpsters.”

“Efforts must be stepped up worldwide to reduce plastics pollution in our oceans or this kind of tragedy may become far more common in the future,” said Mark Simmonds, senior marine scientist at Humane Society International.

WICHITA, Kan. (CBS Local) — A Kansas woman with a prior DUI conviction was sentenced last week to serve two days in jail for killing a 35-year-old man while driving under the influence.

Alexandra Eslinger, 27, pleaded guilty in January to vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, both misdemeanors, The Wichita Eagle reported.

Eslinger was convicted in the July 2017 death of Jesus Navarro-Gonzalez, of Wichita. Investigators say he was heading south on North West Street on his motorcycle when Eslinger turned in front of him causing him to collide into the vehicle. Navarro-Gonzalez succumbed to head and body injuries three days later.

Court records indicate Eslinger had blood-alcohol concentration of .102. The limit to drive legally is under .08.

Eslinger must also serve five days of house arrest, a year of probation. pay a $1,200 fine, complete out-patient drug and alcohol treatment and cannot use drugs or alcohol.

If she violates her probation, Eslinger can be sentenced to a year in jail.

Court records show Eslinger has a prior DUI conviction.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (CBS Local) — Two Head Start teachers are on paid administrative leave after preschoolers were allegedly forced to strip off all of their clothes and stand in a closet as part of punishment for misbehaving, police in East St. Louis, Illinois, said.

The teachers and students are part of the Head Start program operated by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.

“Children would misbehave in class and the teacher would have them disrobe and stand them, make them stand inside a closet for five or 10 minutes as their discipline,” SIUE Police Chief Kevin Schmoll told CBS affiliate KMOV. “Then they would redress and join the class.”

Schmoll said 4 of the 20 students in the class, aged 4 and 5-years-old, were forced to take their clothes off. Schmoll said this form of punishment had been going on since early February but that police were only notified last week.

“We felt that was very inappropriate and possible there’s some criminal action and some charges could come from this,” said Schmoll.

Police said the teacher accused of disciplining students inappropriately is 26-years old and has been a Head Start teacher at the center for three years.

A second teacher, aged 41 with five years’ experience in the program, was also put on paid administrative leave for allegedly witnessing the students forced to take their clothes off and not reporting it.

Police said they don’t believe there was any sexual contact between the adults and the children while they were naked.

A representative of the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s office is expected to be present when the children are more thoroughly interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Belleville in two weeks. Charges could come after that, KMOV reported.

(CBS Philly/CBS Local)– A couple’s wedding day is typically followed by their honeymoon. But there’s a new trend where newlyweds actually spend their honeymoon away from each other.

In the early days of honeymoons — early 1800s — it was a time for couples to travel and visit relatives who couldn’t make it to their wedding. So it was zero alone time, which is quite the departure from this new trend.

Take the honey out of the moon and you’ve got a solomoon. On Instagram, almost 1,500 posts display the reality of this new trend, where newlyweds decide to vacation alone or with friends after the wedding rather than with each other.

“You could go by yourself on a vacation but never a honeymoon,” one woman said. “Who are you supposed to make love to? Who are you supposed to kiss and caress?”

All good questions and this woman was hardly alone in her reaction.

“It’s different if afterwards maybe you want to take a girls trip and you and your girlfriends go and they do the golf thing or whatever, but not for the honeymoon,” another woman said.

“In the beginning especially, you gotta go together, so I don’t think that’s the best option,” one man said.

Couples who solomoon cite the importance of independence, varying work schedules and being in a long-term relationship before tying the knot.

“Being together means being together, so I don’t think that’s the best option,” one man said.

“In general, keeping that spark of romantic love alive can happen for a lifetime but people have to know how to work it,” she said.

DeMaria says calling a non-romantic trip a honeymoon is a bit misplaced.

“If they need a vacation because it fits their lifestyle, but having a honeymoon and calling it that, it’s just a romantic idea,” DeMaria said.

And even for long-term partners, she says a trip together can reignite that crucial spark, even if the destination is a compromise.

“Make it work,” one man said. “Go one place for the honeymoon and go another place on the first anniversary.

“I don’t recommend y’all going on your honeymoon solo, I’m just traditional,” said one woman.

DeMaria added that it seems some people are seeking separate honeymoons as a way to rebel against tradition, and that’s fine as long as the couple prioritizes at least some special time together.

(CBS Philly/CBS Local)– Labor that leads to childbirth is usually no laughing matter. But women at one Pennsylvania hospital are feeling better thanks to something that is being given to expectant mothers.

First-time mom Candace Hager is overjoyed with her baby boy, Hayden. His birth on Dec. 20 was an early Christmas present.

“The delivery was probably better than I thought it could be,” Hager said.

And that’s saying something, since Hager was committed to having a drug-free delivery.

“I’m pretty sensitive to drugs and I just wanted the unmedicated experience,” she said.

Her registered nurse, midwife Ronni Rothman, was happy to be able to offer a new option at Einstein Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

Nitrous oxide –laughing gas — is now available to help women in labor.

“She will self-administer, so she puts the mask over her face,” Rothman said. “During contractions, she’ll breath in and out during contraction, keeping it over her face.”

Nitrous oxide works by increasing the release of feel-good endorphins. It’s more commonly used for dental procedures, to ease pain and anxiety.

It can also make people feel euphoric, which is why it’s called laughing gas.

“No, no one laughs in labor, it’s called laughing gas but it makes them calm,” Rothman said. “I think they should call it calming gas because it definitely helps women calm down.”

The nitrous given during labor is much less than what’s provided at the dentist.

“It helps you calm yourself,” Hager said.

Hager says she used it for a couple of hours at the height of labor.

“It relaxes you as best as you can during that pain,” she said. “It helps you focus on the breathing.”

Doctors say nitrous oxide is less invasive than an epidural that numbs the lower body. And unlike narcotics, the gas doesn’t affect the baby and is quickly out of the mom’s system.

For Hager, it was the perfect solution to bring her 7 pound, 12 ounce baby into the world.

A Fort Lauderdale man called 911 after going to the bathroom and finding a bright green iguana swimming in his toilet.

The man called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission first but was told it doesn’t respond to that type of call. So that’s when he called 911.

Fort Lauderdale Battalion Chief Stephan Gollan tells CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald the man “freaked out and didn’t know what to do.”

He says firefighter Jeff Kurus put on a sterile glove, reached in and grabbed the iguana.

He took it outside and released it into the wild.

Gollan says the department “is the end-all-be-all” when it comes to unique calls.

The department tweeted pictures of the iguana, adding “can you imagine lifting the toilet lid and finding this?”

(KDKA/CBS Local) — “Sesame Street” stamps will be available at a post office near you sometime this year.

The U.S. Postal Service revealed three 2019 stamp subjects Tuesday.

One of the three subjects is “Sesame Street.” The Postal Service says they are honoring the long-running show as “one of the most influential and beloved children’s television shows.”

The stamps will feature 16 different characters, including Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster and Elmo.

The Postal Service says more details, including dates and locations for the first-day-of-issue ceremonies, will be coming soon.

Other stamps coming out later this year will feature Tyrannosaurus rex and Halloween-themed “spooky silhouettes.”

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS Local) — With the cost of tuition and student loan debt on the rise, some college students are resorting to finding sugar daddies to pay their way until graduation.

Seeking Arrangement, a sugar daddy dating website, just released a list of what it calls the fastest growing sugar baby schools.

Georgia State University in Atlanta came in at the top spot, with more than 1,300 students using Seeking Arrangement. More than 300 of those students signed up in 2018.

“I like men in the higher caliber, so I look for that,” said Makaylia Johnson, a 21-year-old student who has used the website for more than two-and-a-half years.

“I was in need of financial help and things like that and I wasn’t really looking like something like a commitment because I’m in college,” she told CBS affiliate WGCL.

Johnson said often older men have paid for her school, where she lives and even what she drives.

“Basically, he just took care of me,” she said of one of the men. “Made sure my rent was paid, anything I wanted to do. I went to Mexico. I went to the Bahamas.”

Johnson said the extra help has allowed her to start her own beauty business.

“I’ve lived off this for all these years,” she said.

Critics say sugar daddy dating websites are degrading to women and can lead to prostitution and even trafficking. Johnson says she sees the arrangement as a form of dating but admits it’s not for everyone.

“It’s everything that involves a relationship basically,” she said. “Some people may look at it as a relationship. I look at it as me just being free and having fun.”

SPARTANBURG CO., S.C. (CBS Local) — A woman who allegedly attacked another woman with a stun gun in front of a home was arrested Tuesday, authorities in South Carolina said.

Deputies found two bloody women on the ground fighting when they were called to a home in Spartanburg County shortly before noon for a reported disturbance, according to investigators.

Savanna Grace White, 21, allegedly drove to the home and attacked the girlfriend of her child’s father. White began shoving and grabbed the victim before pulling out a stun gun and stunning her, CBS affiliate WSPA reported.

The victim was reportedly able to wrestle the stun gun away from White and hold her down until deputies arrived.

White told deputies that she needed to check on her baby, who was in a nearby car during the attack.

The victim told deputies that White had been harassing her and that she had contacted the Sheriff’s Office that morning about getting a trespassing order and possibly a restraining order against White.

White was charged with third-degree assault and battery.

She was treated at a nearby hospital, booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center and released.

MOORE, S.C. (CBS Local) — A fourth-grade student who wrote an essay on LGBTQ rights at her school in South Carolina was forced to write a new essay after she was told the topic “would create a undesirable situation at the school,” according to a lawsuit filed last week in federal court.

Hannah Robertson, who filed the suit on behalf of her minor daughter, claims the school’s principal told her that it was “not age-appropriate to discuss transgenders, lesbians and drag queens outside of the home.”

The lawsuit claims the principal then directed the girl to change her essay topic to bullying.

Robertson is suing Spartanburg County School District 6, Anderson Mill Elementary School and Principal Elizabeth Foster.

She claims Foster violated her daughter’s First Amendment right to free speech and caused both mother and daughter emotional distress and is seeking $1 million in damages, according to told CBS affiliate WSPA.

Robertson’s attorney, Eric Poston, said they want to hit the district financially to help send a message to other school leaders in the state.

“Fundamentally she wants people like her grandfather to be treated equally and in a state like South Carolina, you’re gonna need more than a hammer. You’re gonna need a gun,” Poston told WSPA.

The school district said in a statement last week the claims in the lawsuit are “inaccurate.”

Spartanburg County School District 6 released the following statement in response to the lawsuit:

“The district has forwarded a copy of this lawsuit to our attorney and look forward to sharing our side of the story,” the statement said. “We are serious about treating every child with kindness, respect, and without discrimination.”

The Food Safety and Inspection Service and several other organizations have been investigating a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Schwarzengrund illnesses involving five case patients from two states.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services collected three intact Butterball brand ground turkey samples from a home where four of the five case patients live. The FSIS says the case patients and ground turkey Salmonella Schwarzengrund isolates are closely related, genetically.

Anyone who purchased the recalled products is urged to throw them away or return them.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (CBS Local) — A Kansas woman says a bullet that flew into her home was stopped by what she describes as an act of God.

Constance Effie, 70, said was sitting in her living room inside her home Saturday evening when she heard what she thought was a bomb.

“I thought maybe our TV blew up,” Effie told WDAF. “I thought I was in a war zone because that was the loudest noise I ever heard.”

The noise was a bullet that hit the side of her house.

“We looked all around and didn’t see a hole anywhere and I thought, ‘Look, that picture — the glass is all broken,'” she said.

The picture that stopped the bullet was hanging two feet above where she was sitting. It just happened to be a framed copy of the Lord’s Prayer.

“It hit [the picture] and fell down behind [the couch]. But if it hadn’t had the metal there, it might’ve came on in and hit one of us,” she said.

Effie and her husband, who was also inside the home at the time, were not injured but she was briefly hospitalized after the shooting for what she called a minor, stress-related heart attack.

Effie says she hears gunshots in her neighborhood all the time. She does not know who’s responsible but wishes they would stop.

“We just hope and pray they understand not to do this anymore,” Effie said.

Police are investigating the shooting, but do not have any suspects at this time.

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS Local) — Five Georgia lawmakers are pushing a bill that would force men 55 years of age or older to report the release of sperm.

“Any male 55 years of age or older shall immediately report to the county sheriff or local law enforcement agency when such male releases sperm,” House Bill 604 reads.

The bill was introduced in response to the passage of House Bill 481, dubbed the “heartbeat abortion bill,” that would make abortion illegal once a doctor is able to detect a heartbeat in the womb, which is usually at around 6 weeks. HB 481 now moves to the state Senate.

HB 604 is sponsored by five female Democratic representatives, including Rep. Dar’Shun Kendrick, who tweeted she intended to introduce a “Testicular Bill of Rights” that would seek to regulate male sex organs.

The proposal would allow for men to be charged with aggravated assault for having sex without a condom, criminalize some vasectomies and instate a mandatory waiting period before men can make purchases at sex shops.

Kendrick told Rolling Stone she’s aware that her measure has little chance of passing, but she said it is meant to call attention to the “absurd” double standard women are being held to.

The point, she says, is to “bring awareness to the fact that if you’re going to legislate our bodies, then we have every right to propose legislation to regulate yours.”

HB 604 does not appear to have been assigned to a House committee at this time.

STAFFORD, Va. ((WJZ/CBS Local)— Police arrested a woman for public intoxication two days in a row. Officials said the first day, she was carrying a suitcase with cats inside it.

Police said a deputy responded to reports of a suspicious person with cats in her suitcase around 5:34 p.m. Friday. When he found the suspect, he detected an odor of alcohol. She was allegedly unsteady on her feet and had slurred speech and bloodshot, glassy eyes.

She was identified as 43-year-old Shanna Holwager.

Holwager told the deputy she was bringing the cats to the SPCA in the zipped suitcase. They were turned over to Stafford County Animal Control.

Holwager was taken into custody for public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until she sobered up.

However, the next day at around 11:16 p.m., the same deputy saw Holwager walking down the middle of the road waving her arms around. She was arrested and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until she sobered up, again.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS Local) — A grieving family in South Florida is demanding answers after they say a local funeral home displayed the wrong body at a relative’s wake.

The family of Norma Newman gathered Saturday night to say their goodbyes to her at the Roy Mizell & Kurtz Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale only to discover a complete stranger inside the casket.

“I went up to view her body, I [said], ‘No, this is not my sister. This is somebody we did not know.’ We did not know the person that was lying in the casket,” Newman’s sister, Cuinthia Webbe, told WSVN.

Relatives of Newman said certain physical characteristics didn’t add up.

“We asked them about the mole on our aunt’s face. They said that they covered it up with make-up,” said Newman’s niece, Suzette Walsh. “There was no mole there, you know? And makeup couldn’t cover it because it was kind of protruding out of her face.”

Newman also had only four toes on one of her feet. However, Newman’s granddaughter, Camisha Stewart, said she was told the woman in the casket had all five.

Another family members broke down in tears while talking to WSVN, saying the family doesn’t know where Newman’s body is.

“We all came in here to mourn the loss of my aunt, and this is what we get, and nobody is taking ownership,” said Newman’s niece, Marcia Durrant-Aris. “We don’t know — many questions, unanswered questions. That’s not right.”

The funeral home was contacted by WSVN Monday night, but offered no comment.

(CBS Local) — A group of scientists are warning against the use of Apple Airpods, saying potentially dangerous radiation being beamed into your heads could pose a cancer risk.

As many as 250 experts from 40 countries have signed a United Nations and World Health Organization petition warning against the use of Apple AirPods. They believe the earbuds pose possible cancer risks due to the Bluetooth technology, a type of electromagnetic frequency (EMF) radio wave that can transmit data.

Proximity to the user’s inner skull poses the greatest threat, the scientists said.

“My concern for AirPods is that their placement in the ear canal exposes tissues in the head to relatively high levels of radio-frequency radiation,” Jerry Phillips, a professor of biochemistry at the University of Colorado, told Medium.

The experts also noted the International Agency for Research on Cancer recently determined EMF is “possibly carcinogenic” to humans. Along with cancer, genetic damage and neurological disorders are possibly linked to EMF exposure in humans.

Existing evidence “indicates potential concerns for human health and development from all technologies that operate at radio frequencies,” Phillips said.

Apple has previously responded to concerns about radiation risk but has yet to comment on the latest claims.

“Apple products are always designed and tested to meet or exceed all safety requirements,” Apple spokesperson Alex Kirschner said in 2016 when the devices first launched.

(CBS Local) — “Death metal” music may be full of disturbing lyrics about cannibalism, torture and child murder, but it does not inspire violence, psychologists say.

Macquarie University’s music lab looked at how metal music fans react to pictures of violence compared to a control group.

Researchers used the lyrics of death metal band Bloodbath’s cannibalism-themed track, “Eaten,” in a psychological test and found that death metal fans are not “desensitized” to violent imagery, according to the findings published in the journal Royal Society Open Science.

“[Death metal] fans are nice people,” said Professor Bill Thompson, from the Australian University who headed the study. “They’re not going to go out and hurt someone.”

32 fans and 48 non-fans were asked to listen to death metal or to pop while looking at unpleasant images. To test the impact of different types of music, they also used a track they deemed to be the opposite of “Eaten.”

“We used ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams as a [comparison],” lead researcher Yanan Sun said.

Each participant was played “Happy” or “Eaten” through headphones, while they were shown a pair of images — one showed a violent scene, the other showed something innocuous.

“We don’t have any issue with it,” Bloodbath’s lead singer Nick Holmes told BBC News. “The lyrics are harmless fun, as the study proved.

Thompson said the findings should be “reassuring to parents or religious groups” concerned about violent music.

MENLO PARK, Calif. (CBS13/CBS Local) – Facebook is having problems Wednesday morning that’s preventing people from posting.

According to Downdetector.com, a large spike in reports of problems with Facebook happened just before 9 a.m. PST.

Some people are having trouble posting, while others report not being able to log in at all.

Many people are venting about the problems on Facebook competitor Twitter.

It appears users all over the world are reporting problems.

Users are also reporting problems with Instagram, which is owned by Facebook.

Facebook has not commented on the issue.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/CBS Local) – A New Jersey teenager is proving hard work and determination can go a long way.

That proof is also seen in the amount of college acceptance letters he’s received.

Laid out in front of 17-year-old Dylan Chidick are not just pamphlets of college options, they’re acceptance letters – 17 college acceptance letters.

“NJCU, Ramapo, Albright,” Chidick said, listing off the schools.

“The dream I want to achieve, I have to have a lot of determination.”

After moving from Trinidad at just seven years old and becoming a citizen, Dylan and his family went through countless heartaches.

His younger twin brothers are living with serious heart conditions and his family has been in and out of homelessness.

“My family went through a lot and there has been a lot of people saying, ‘you can’t do that,’ or ‘you’re not going to achieve this,’ and me – getting these acceptances – kind of verifies what I have been saying. I can do it and I will do it,” the teen explained.

The New Jersey student set his goals high and met them; becoming the senior class president at Henry Snyder High School and being inducted into the honor society.

Now, he is looking to become the first in his family to go to college.

It was his single mother’s courage to ask for help from the non-profit “Women Rising” that Dylan says makes him want to do better.

“It has been hard financially, we have been homeless,” the teen’s mother, Khadine Phillip said.

“Making herself vulnerable and putting herself out there, that made me determined to never let us get back in that situation again,” Dylan added.

“She is a great example in doing everything necessary to help her children,” Roseann Mazzeo, executive director for Women Rising said.

Among many things, the center has put them up in permanent supportive housing. Giving Dylan a safe place to study and wait on his last acceptance letter.

“The College of New Jersey. I haven’t heard back yet, but that is my top school right now,” the honor student revealed.

Dylan is hoping 18 will be his lucky number and bring him 18 choices for a bright future.

When he figures out where he wants to go, Chidick says he wants to study political science. Given his financial situation, the costs for all the college applications were waived.

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS Local) — A Florida mother stabbed her 11-year-old daughter to death to keep the girl from having sex with men, according to an arrest affidavit.

Authorities said Rosa Alcides Rivera, 28, stabbed her daughter, Aleyda, at least 15 times in a car on Sunday, then drove her around before going to Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando. By the time they arrived at the hospital, the child was dead, according to the affidavit obtained by CBS affiliate WKMG-TV.

Officials say Rivera had accused her mother’s boyfriend of having sex with her daughter. Witnesses told officers that the girl had denied having sex with him, the affidavit said.

She also said she believed her daughter was having sex with men because she “smiled different,” according to the affidavit.

Orange County Sheriff John Mina said there appears to be no validity to Rivera’s claim that her daughter was sexually active.

“We don’t believe it’s credible,” Mina said.

Rivera reportedly first told detectives that a man had stabbed her daughter before running away. She allegedly later admitted killing the child, saying “my baby is gone,” according to the affidavit.

She also allegedly told authorities she tried to make the girl more “comfortable” as she stabbed her.

An off-duty Orlando police officer who was working security at the hospital at the time arrested Rivera.

Rivera had cuts near her wrist and was taken to a hospital, where she was cleared medically, officials said. Investigators believe her injuries were self-inflicted.

Rivera faces a first-degree murder charge. She’s being held without bail in the Orange County Jail.

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS Local) — A Florida bus aide who allegedly yelled at a middle school student to take off a Trump hat and then grabbed it off of his head, may face criminal charges, according to officials.

Surveillance video shows a bus aide yelling at Gunnar Johansson, 14, over his “TRUMP: Make America Great Again” hat and then grabbing the hat off of his head.

“Boy, if you don’t that hat off this bus. Take it off,” the unidentified bus aide is heard to say on the surveillance video.

The incident happened last week as a Martin County school bus was en route to Hidden Oaks Middle School in Palm City.

Johansson said students were allowed to wear a hat to school if they made a donation to March of Dimes. He decided to wear a Make America Great Again hat in support of President Donald Trump and “to show my pride in Trump America.”

“I was really confused, I was like ‘I can’t wear this?'” Johansson told WPTV. “She, like, threatened me with a referral and threatened to turn the bus around. I said ‘write me up, I didn’t do anything wrong,’ and then she yanked my hat off. It was crazy.”

Johansson said he continued the bus ride without wearing his hat while other students on the bus who wore different hats were allowed to keep wearing them.

The bus aide later apologized when questioned by a Martin County deputy, saying she did realize it was “hat day” at school. She also admitted to overreacting.

“I do not have a problem with Gunnar. We have always gotten along,” she wrote in a statement released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. “I am sorry for what I did and I hope he forgives me.”

The school board does not have a policy that prevents students from wearing political attire, WPTV reported. Johansson said other students were wearing MAGA hats during the day, and he was allowed to wear it at school.

“The district is aware of the family’s allegations. We’re taking it very seriously,” said Frank Frangella, Director of Safety and Security for the Martin County School District.

A spokesman for the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said investigators will review the video and interview everyone involved to determine whether the bus aide committed a crime.

“The crux of our investigation will be the interaction directly, physically with the child,” Lieutenant Ryan Grimsdale said.

DETROIT, Mich. (CBS Local) — A Michigan couple who were married for 56 years died within hours of each other this month, holding hands until their final breaths, their daughters said.

Will and Judy Webb, who married in 1963, died March 2 at a Detroit hospice.

The couple grew up in Detroit and started out as friends.

“At 14 they met and were friends, they dated other people, they were engaged to other people,” Marybeth Webb, a daughter, told WJBK. “And then they were both single when he went to Army. So she was like, ‘I didn’t have anyone to write, so I started writing your dad.'”

They wrote the entire time Will served in Korea and their friendship grew into love. They walked down the aisle on Feb. 16, 1963.

The Webbs moved to Melvindale, Michigan, and raised three daughters.

“They always had their arms on each other,” said Lori Thomas, one of their daughters. “If she was away five minutes, he’d say, ‘Where’s mama, have you seen mama?'”

Things took a turn a few months ago when Judy suffered complications from a routine surgery and Will collapsed under the strain of her illness.

“She would get a fever from her infection; he would get a fever and they couldn’t figure out where his was coming from because there was no source,” Marybeth said. “She ended up with encephalopathy as a complication from the antibiotic she was on; he ended up with encephalopathy.”

Judy and Will were sent separate hospitals and struggled to recover, but soon their bodies began to shut down and they were reunited in hospice.

“They brought mom through the door in dad’s room and he looked over and saw her and said ‘Mama!’ And that was like the last thing he said,” said Ann Warren, another daughter.

The daughters pushed the beds of their parents together so they could hold hands.

“They were holding hands and when my dad took his last breath, my mom went like this [rubbing her sister’s hand],” said Lori. “She wasn’t responding but she knew he died, so she rubbed his hand, like I’ll be there soon – and she was.”

A few hours later, Judy also passed away.

“We’re suffering the loss of our parents at the same time and that’s horrid,” Marybeth said. “They will never have to suffer the loss of each other.”

(CBS Local) — If your “pursuit of Happiness” isn’t going as well as you’d hoped, consider Plano, Texas. It’s the happiest city in America, according to new analysis by WalletHub.

The finance website released its annual Happiest Cities in America list on Monday, comparing 182 of the largest U.S. cities based on 31 indicators across three main categories: emotional and physical well-being, income and employment, and community and environment. The data set ranges from depression rate to income growth rate to average leisure time spent per day.

Plano, about a 30-minute drive north of Dallas came out on top. It has one of the lowest depression rates and the smallest share of adults  whose physical, mental or emotional problems affect their personal happiness. Plano also has one of the lowest poverty rates in the country and the lowest unemployment rate.

Irvine, California, south of Los Angeles in Orange County, finished in second place. And Madison, Wisconsin, ranked third.

Eight of the top 20 cities are located in California, including Irvine (#2), Fremont (#4), Huntington Beach (#5), San Jose (#8), San Francisco (#10), Santa Rosa (#13), Glendale (#17) and San Diego (#18).

Three of the top 20 cities are located in Texas, including Plano (#1), Grand Prairie (#7) and Austin (#14).

Falling to the bottom of WalletHub’s ranking were Charleston, West Virginia, Toledo, Ohio, and Detroit (ranked 182).

Other findings of interest include:

• Burlington, Vermont, ranked as the city with the fewest working hours and Anchorage, Alaska, had the most.
• Boston has the lowest number of suicides and in Juneau, Alaska, had the most.
• San Francisco had the highest income growth and Gulfport, Mississippi, had the lowest.
• Fremont, California, had the lowest separation and divorce rate and Detroit had the highest.
• Overland Park, Kansas, had the most adequate sleep rate, while Detroit had the lowest.
• Cheyenne, Wyoming, has the lowest average commute time and New York City has the highest.

(CBS Local/KDKA)– Usually people give up beer or alcohol for Lent, but an Ohio man says he’s only going to drink beer and nothing else.

Del Hall works at Fifty West Brewing Company in Cincinnati. He says he will only be drinking beer until Easter Sunday, and he’s also giving up all food.

“I am nervous, I’m very nervous about it. I’ve only fasted for 4 days.”

So for 46 days, Hall says he will have an assortment of beer for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hall says he is following the lead of monks in the 1600s, who would fast during the season by a bock beer diet.

“That would be their liquid bread, and basically it would sustain them through 46 days of Lent,” Hall says.

He will also be documenting his Lent beer diet on social media and will be tracking his weight.

But Hall says he has a game plan, and wants to see if he can prove to himself that it’s possible.

“I’m an army veteran I was number one in my class in the army, I’ve run a full marathon before 26.2 miles I’ve done big challenges but this seems very daunting so I’m just curious if I’m up to the challenge, if I’m going to be able to do it or not.”

Hall says he will still be drinking water during the fast and will be checking in with a doctor.

(WBZ/CBS Local)– Today is “National Napping Day” which is observed every year on the day following the return of daylight saving time. A new study finds a midday snooze can lower your blood pressure, perhaps as much as other lifestyle changes.

Researchers in Greece looked at more than 200 people with relatively well-controlled blood pressure who slept for on average about 50 minutes during the day. They found that a midday nap was associated with a drop in systolic blood pressure by about 5 mmHg. They say that’s about what you would expect from reducing salt or alcohol intake and even low-dose blood pressure medication.

Researchers warn more research is needed. This one study does not mean that people should choose a nap over exercise, diet, and medication, but if you want to reduce your blood pressure, taking a little afternoon siesta may be just what the doctor ordered.
