D&B: What Your Favorite Tailgate Food
Garry Parrish joined Dukes and Bell to talk about the upcoming NBA Draft, “If the Atlanta Hawks take Doncic for themselves which a lot of people find sensible they will get a high grade on the pick, either way the first three picks off the board in some order will be Ayton, Bagley, and Doncic.” When asked about the Hawks options of moving back from the third pick in the draft, Parrish said “If Atlanta wants to move down they have plenty of opportunities to move down, if you decided as a franchise you preferred to have Trae Young, there’s probably a scenario where you could draft Doncic at three, then get a Mark Cuban on the phone and have him draft Trae Young for you and then work a deal out and get additional assets.” Randy asked Gary about the value a Dennis Schroeder would have on the trade market, Gary told the guys “Probably not what any Hawk fan would want, what did the Hornets get for Dwight who averaged 16 and 12, once it’s known that your franchise is willing to move on from you there’s not a big market out there for you.” The guys talked about the breaking news out of the NBA that the Cavs have made an offer for Kawhi Leonard including trading Kevin Love and the 8th pick in this years draft. It was time for the “Gamewinner” segment. Garry Parrish joined Dukes and Bell to talk about the upcoming NBA Draft, “If the Atlanta Hawks take Doncic for themselves which a lot of people find sensible they will get a high grade on the pick, either way the first three picks off the board in some order will be Ayton, Bagley, and Doncic.” When asked about the Hawks options of moving back from the third pick in the draft, Parrish said “If Atlanta wants to move down they have plenty of opportunities to move down, if you decided as a franchise you preferred to have Trae Young, there’s probably a scenario where you could draft Doncic at three, then get a Mark Cuban on the phone and have him draft Trae Young for you and then work a deal out and get additional assets.” Randy asked Gary about the value a Dennis Schroeder would have on the trade market, Gary told the guys “Probably not what any Hawk fan would want, what did the Hornets get for Dwight who averaged 16 and 12, once it’s known that your franchise is willing to move on from you there’s not a big market out there for you.”
Andrew Brandt: I don't see the Falcons giving Julio and new contract
It was time for the Falcons Report segment as MMQB’s Andrew Brandt joined Dukes and Bell, Mike asked Andrew where this could go, “It’s always tough when you have a star player wants an adjustment on a contract, what happens is players see free agent dealers that are more than they have and are lesser players. He’s had his rumble of discontent, I’d be surprised if this continued into training camp and even more surprised if it goes into September.” Randy asked Andrew how the team will address this situation, Brandt said “Do I think they will tear up the existing contract? No, but do I think they will ignore him? Probably not. I think they will address it, and he won’t be overly happen and neither will the team, but they might add some guaranteed money and add some incentives. Those are all things you can do without breaking the precedent of tearing up contracts.” When talking about how discussions work when negotiating deals “These are tough discussions, because in any negotiations you have to be tactful, I would say we think he’s a great player, we thought he was a great player when we signed him to a monster deal, if he had one year left on his deal that’s one thing, but to have three years left is another. All these guys holding out have one thing in common, they are under contract and that gives the team all the leverage in this situation to me.”

Dukes and Bell talk UGA in the Sidelines with the Dawgs segment. Mike ask are the Dawgs set up for long term success? And can they get more production out of the Tight End position? Mike Periera joins the show to talk NFL news and notes
Pereira: On Catch Rule: "rule has moved closer to common sense.”
Mike Pereira joined Dukes and Bell to talk about the new rule changes that the NFL has passed this off season, Carl asked Mike about the revisal of the catch rule. Pereira said “I think it is going to be difficult to call, but it’s been overhyped, it’s very much like the rule a few years ago where the runner and the tackling couldn’t lower their head. That being said it causes me some alarm because it can be called in the tackle box and that will be impossible to call because there is no official in there. There will be far more fines than there will be calls in the games and it will be something we won’t be talking a lot about. Pereira continued “They are trying to limit the number of concussion and they have to do that, but you have to make rules that you can officiate and there are areas that are impossible to officiate.” When asked about what a catch is, Mike said “You’re going to hear third step more than anything, the element of time which has been defined as a football move etc., now I think you’re going to hear third step because that’s the element of time it takes to make a football move. I think they got it right, the standard is going to be tighter, but we are more likely to see more catches and fumbles, the rule has moved closer to common sense.” Mike asked Pereira just what the future holds for the kickoff in the NFL, Mike said “We will know after this year, to me they did everything they could possibly do to lower concussions on kickoffs, it’s going to be more like a punt. I personally think they’ve done a beautiful job of doing this, I personally don’t want to see the kickoff go away because it’s a huge element of the game. If the number of returns increase which I think it will, and the number of concussion decline then it will stay, but if they increase I think you can say bye bye to the kickoff.”
D&B: Who's The Next Falcons To Get Into The Falcons Ring Of Honor?
Dukes and Bell go around the NFL in the Blitz segment. Cowboys are wondering if they should let Jimmy Johnson in the Cowboys Ring Of Honor? Also Should Tony Romo be allowed into the Ring Of Honor? which leads to the question which Falcons player will be the next one in the Falcons Ring Of Honor.

The Nationals add help to the bullpen so Mike asks the question, Will the Braves be players at the trade deadline? Grant McAuley joins the show to talk about the Braves
McAuley: "Braves pitching setting the foundation to win"
Joining Dukes and Bell is Grant McAuley talking some Braves, Grant told the guys why the Nationals traded for Kelvin Herrera this early on “It’s a preemptive strike by the Nationals because they need help in the bullpen, but I think it has a lot to do with the Braves and Phillies playing so well, they can’t sit around and wait for their team to get hot.” Mike asked Grant if the Braves bullpen was the number one issue for the team, “The Braves bullpen has been better than not, they have had their nights but they could bring someone in to stabilize the mix.” Carl asked Grant just how good is the Braves starting rotation, “Third in baseball as far as starting rotation era, Braves starters in the last 11 home starts have an era of less than 1, we talked about the offense early on but now were talking about the pitching setting the foundation to win games right now.” When asked about Freddie Freeman’s MVP chances, McAuley said “The thing most voters look at other than the eye test is what would his team be without him, what he’s done the last two years has been MVP caliber, Freddie Freeman has done everything humanly possible, and I think if the season ended today I think you’re looking at the National league MVP.”

Hack: On Mickelson: “It was definitely a protest"
It was time for the day’s “Big Story” segment, Mike asked Damon did Phil Mickelson lose his mind or was it a calculated move, Hack said “It was defnitiely a protest, he’s had his troubles at the US Open, he commented earlier in the week about the seventh hole saying it was a great hole until the USGA gets ahold of it, but it was definitely a protest.”
Damon continued about the Mickelson incident, “I don’t think he was trying to gain a competitive advantage at that point he was already out of it, I don’t think it will overshadow the good things he’s done in the past. This was a lapse in judgement, it was poor he was trying to make a statement, you got words from some players and actions from Phil about the course conditions.”
When asked about Brooks Koepka’s wrist injury earlier in the year, Hack said “It was very serious, he had some concerns he would ever play golf again, being away made him realize how much he loved the game and revitalized him.”

D&B: Would The Hawks Be Interested In Kwahi Leonard?
Damon Hack of the Golf Channel joined the show, “Shinnecock Hills is a throwback golf course, US Open is traditionally a links style golf course, this is your Mom and Dad’s US Open golf course.” “One week a year I want to see this, that’s why you have a Masters and PGA Championship, but the US Open is suppose to be a tough challenge, you want to identify who the best golfer in the world is and that’s why you see the World’s number one out front.”“On the Sidelines with the ‘Dawgs” segment, we went over the Vegas over/under for win that was released, UGA was set at 10.5. Both guys agreed that they would hit 11 which would put them in the SEC Championship game. Kickin it with Koonin as CEO of the Hawks Steve Koonin joined the show, the guys asked Steve about Kawhi Leonard wanting out of San Antonio “Dynasties sell, and it makes us talk about them, you don’t find this quality of player out there often. I think this could make Thursday night more exciting to see if there could be something done, you could be a star in Oklahoma City you don’t have to be in New York.” When asked about players that the Hawks have worked out, Steve said “When you’re doing a one on zero workout it’s really the dinner the night before, it’s the lunch after. You learn a lot of things about these guys, and you forget these guys are 18 and 19 years old maturity is a big deal. It’s judging the family, character, the motivation, it’s everything.” Mike asked Steve about Lucic Doncic, he said “We have been to Spain multiple times and had dinner with him, he has not worked out for any team in the United States.”
D&B: The Kickoff in the NFL Might Be Done For
Dukes and Bell go around the NFL in the NFL Blitz segment. MIKE PEREIRA told Football Talk that these new rules are the last chance to save the kickoff in the NFL. Plus the guys talk about the Portugal vs Spain opening round World Cup Game.
Pat Dye Jr.: "my guess is the Falcons stick to their guns"
Pat Dye Jr. joined Dukes and Bell to talk about the Julio Jones situation. Mike asked Pat what the latest was on the Calvin Ridley Jr deal, Pat said “We’re in one of the situations in the first round where from the 23rd pick to the 32nd pick there’s a lot of negotiation room where how much of the fourth year salary money is guaranteed. So we’re just trying to get some comfort and clarity there, we don’t want to do a deal that looks good today that could look bad at the end of July because of what’s gotten done around us.” When asked about the Julio Jones situation, “I’m gonna preface my comments by saying I know Julio well, represented Julio w/ my former partner, so I don’t want to say anything negative. You have a player who has three years left on his deal, he’s a great football player and there has been a change with players of his position salary wise where players aren’t up to his caliber who are making more money than him. Players only have so much time to make a certain amount of money, these NFL contracts are a bit of a one Way Street, once you’re past the guarantee teams can cut you at any time and Julio has no recourse.” Dye, Jr. continued on the Jones situation “Over the last 10 years or so, you’ve seen a significant increase in guaranteed dollars in these contracts, and that’s how these players have tried to protect themselves for deals that they are now outplaying, it’s not unprecedented for this to happen but what happens is if you do this for Julio you open a Pandora’s box, and Matt Ryan had to wait to the last year to do his.” Carl asked Pat if there is any precedence for a team to redo a deal with three years left, Dye, Jr. said “I know that Antonio Brown, he had three years left and they just brought some money forward, there is precedence for this, I know that TD and DQ want team chemistry out there. When they gave him close to $50 million guaranteed they were buying length, my guess is I would think the Falcons would stick to their guns, but I can’t speak for them. That’s just my sense with what they’re building and it’s what they made their QB do.”
