CINCINNATI (CW69 News at 10) — The Atlanta Gladiators lost to the Cyclones by a score of 4-1 in ECHL action at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, bringing the Gladiators’ 4-game winning streak to an end Wednesday night.

Atlanta’s Malcolm Hayes and Cincinnati’s Cody Caron both picked up fighting major penalties along with a pair of minors after the two dropped gloves for a brawl late in the first period. The fracas ended when both men went down to the ice.
The Cyclones scored first late in the first when Dajon Mingo found the net to give Cincinnati the lead. They went up 2-0 midway through the second period when Caron found the net.READ MORE: Affordable broadband expansion in Fulton County
The Gladiators cut the margin to 2-1 early in the third when Hoelscher fired the puck past Cyclone goalie Sean Bonar, but Cincinnati never looked back, picking up two more goals through the third period.
Later in the third, Hayes dropped the gloves for his second fight of the night, this time with Cincinnati’s Graeme Brown. The bout ended with some redemption for Hayes as he brought Brown down to the ice and both players received fighting majors. This marked the first time this season that a Gladiators player has had a fight multiple times in the same game.
Atlanta goalie finished the night with 26 saves on 29 shots, while Cincinnati’s Bonar saved 30 of 31 shots.
The Gladiators head back home to take the ice on Friday night against the Jacksonville Icemen. The puck drops at Gas South Arena in Duluth at 7:30 pm. Tickets are still available.
