LONG COUNTY, Ga. (CW 69 News at 10) — The Long County Sheriff’s department asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) investigate the alleged kidnapping of a seven-month-old infant and aggravated assault of the infant’s mother.
A Levi’s Call, a Georgia’s Amber Alert was issued to find the infant and Leander Nathaniel Harris, 23, of Glennville, Georgia, the infant’s biological father. Because of the alleged assault of the child’s mother and kidnapping, the authorities considered the infant to be endangered. Authorities found the child safely and unharmed in Statesboro, Ga.
Harris has been taken into custody and will be charged with abduction of the infant and assault to the mother.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
