The trooper sustained a head injury when his patrol car caught fire after crashing on an off-ramp following a pursuit of a motorcycle.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Patch) – A Georgia State Patrol trooper suffered a head injury after his patrol car caught fire after being involved in an accident following a pursuit of a motorcycle early Tuesday morning, a department spokeswoman said.

The trooper, who has not been identified, was in pursuit of a motorcycle in a chase that began near I-20 West and Martin Luther King Drive at 6:07 a.m. According to police, the pursuit traveled west on I-20 to I-285 North and continued on the highway until both the motorcycle and the patrol car exited at Bolton Rd.
