ATLANTA, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) – Atlanta and Gwinnett County police arrested David Lee, 29, a suspect in the homicides of three homeless people in Downtown Atlanta, according to APD.
Lee is suspected in the shooting deaths of Timothy Smith, Curtis Cockrell, and Maxine McDonald earlier this month.
This morning, the Gwinnett County Police Department says they received intelligence that a male wanted in connection with three murders in Atlanta was possibly in Gwinnett County. That information that the suspect was in the area of Holcomb Bridge Road and Peachtree Pkwy.
Officers began searching the area and spotted Lee walking on foot near 3230 Holcomb Bridge Road. Multiple officers confronted Lee as he was walking in the parking lot and took him into custody without incident. The Atlanta Police Department was immediately notified. They responded and took custody of Lee.
The three homicides occurred:
- June 1, 2020 at the intersection of Piedmont and Baker around 10:30 a.m.
- June 11, 2020 at Whitehall St SW where it passes over Ted Turner Dr SW around 5:30 p.m.
- June 15, 2020 at the intersection of Pryor St SW and Rawson St SW around 8:55 a.m.
The investigation is continuing.
