WAYNESBORO, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) — An infant was barely breathing, and a police officer came to the rescue. The Waynseboro officer’s body cam captured her response to the situation on April 13, 2020.
The Waynesboro Police Department posted about the incident on their Facebook page, describing how Officer Erreka Bennett calmly aided the infant, who they said had an obstructed airway. You can hear her comforting and encouraging the baby during process.
Bennett responded and thanked people who commented on the social media post, saying, “I would do that for anyone. I’m here to protect and service and be a light to my community.”
Officers said the infant is doing great. Bennett received a Letter of Commendation for her role.
