Statement from DeKalb County Police Department:

Earlier today, Marietta Police Department recovered the vehicle used in yesterday’s hit and runs.  There were a number of occupants inside the vehicle; however, our investigation determined that the person of interest was not an occupant of the vehicle. If anyone has information about the three incidents, we urge them to call 9-1-1 or our Homicide Unit at 770-724-7850.

DKPD is looking for a vehicle that was involved in three separate incidents in a matter of hours.

Today, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a black male was struck by a vehicle at Wade Walker Park, which resulted in his death. The victim’s vehicle, a silver 2011 Hyundai Sante Fe, was taken.

At 2:15 p.m., a vehicle matching the description taken in the above incident was involved a hit and run of a Hispanic family of six who were riding their bicycles in North Dekalb Mall, severely injuring a four-year-old. Further investigation revealed that the same vehicle was involved in another incident in another jurisdiction today at approximately 12 p.m., which circumstances are still under investigation.

The investigation continues to determine the motive.
