SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN DECATUR MURDER, ARMED ROBBERY
DECATUR, GA (April 29, 2020) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Fugitive Unit, working with the Cobb County Police Department, today arrested a second suspect in a murder earlier this month in Decatur.
On April 27, 2020, sheriff’s investigators arrested a 15 year-old who was wanted for shooting a person to death and taking money allegedly intended for purchase of a weapon. Further investigation led to the identification of 19 year-old Austell, Georgia resident Eliyahu Benyamin as a possible second suspect. Mr. Benyamin is suspected of facilitating the shooting death of 21 year-old Atlanta, Georgia resident Reeves Vadorian McSwain during the transaction on Longdale Drive in Decatur on April 22, 2020. According to warrants, Mr. Benyamin took Mr. McSwain out of a vehicle and left him in the road after he was shot by the juvenile.
Warrants were issued on April 28, 2020 for Mr. Benyamin’s arrest on charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault. Mr. Benyamin was located and arrested without incident in Mableton, Georgia by the DeKalb Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit with the Cobb County Police Department. The suspect was transported to the DeKalb County Jail. The juvenile suspect remains in custody at a regional youth detention center.
