MURRAY COUNTY, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) — Just as the death toll continues to rise as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, at least eight people lost their lives overnight on April 12, when severe storms swept through Georgia.

Seven of them were in Murray County. The coroner identified them as:

Deanna Zambrano, 20

Richard Irwin, 50

Laquita Thomas, 63

Wilber Brookshire, Jr., 48

The Bartow County coroner previously identified the person killed in his county as William Gregory McConnell, 34.

Governor Brian Kemp discussed the deaths and storm damage at an April 13 briefing and said the state is working with several agencies to clear the storm debris and assist families as needed.
