BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) — A local woman is urging anyone with information to help find her sister, after authorities said a murder suspect might be holding her captive.
In a Facebook Messenger interview, Chrichelle Wood told CW69 it’s not like her sister, 22-year-old Autumn Finlay, to just disappear and leave her two small children.
“Yesterday was her oldest son’s fifth birthday, and she has a two-year-old little boy. Autumn’s a very accountable person, and she’s not gonna not reach out to family. This is not like her at all,” Wood said.
The Butts County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Finlay could be with a man family members said is her boyfriend, Cody Matthews, 21.
Authorities said Matthews shot and killed a 30-year-old acquaintance, William Ryan Ray, near a tennis court and pool on Madison Avenue in Jackson on Sunday.
They charged Matthews with Murder and Aggravated Assault, but they’re still searching for him, and they said he could be holding Finley against her will.
Wood said her family hasn’t heard from her since around midnight.
“She contacted our parents off of a private phone number and said that she was supposedly good and that she was with a friend, and after everything popped off, she wasn’t with Cody anymore,” said Wood.
But Wood said her family believes otherwise.
“We don’t believe that she is safe. We think that Cody made her call and say that,” she said.
Now, they’re hoping someone will come forward with information that could bring her sister safely home to her children and justice to the shooting victim.
“I just need everybody to keep sharing it and getting her picture out there and the information out there,” Wood said.
Anyone with information should call 9-1-1. Authorities said a reward is being offered for any information leading to their whereabouts.
