ATLANTA, GA — The mother who was charged with first-degree child cruelty for leaving her special needs son at Grady Hospital earlier this month was granted permission to go home today, reports 11Alive. A group of mothers showed up at court on Thursday to support her.
Diana Elliott, 37, was captured on a surveillance video leaving Sheldon at the hospital. According to police Elliott, a mother of four, “indicated that she was overwhelmed caring for her son,” therefore she decided to leave him at Grady was best. She was later found staying at a hotel in DeKalb County with the other children.
