LAKE CITY, Ga. (AP) — Georgia authorities say a man shot his girlfriend to death in front of her 9-year-old son.
News outlets report Darius Deandre Evans has been arrested by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office following a six-hour manhunt. A sheriff’s office statement says the boy told authorities Evans got into an argument with his mother Saturday night and shot her multiple times before leaving their Lake City apartment.
He told deputies Evans then returned and began shooting her again before fleeing the scene. The woman’s identity hasn’t been released by authorities, and she was pronounced dead at a hospital. The sheriff’s office says the boy then rode around with Sheriff Victor Hill to show him where Evans may have fled. The statement doesn’t say what charges Evans faces.
