Prison officials say they’re investigating the third apparent suicide by a Georgia inmate in the span of a week.
The Department of Corrections said in a news release that inmate Michael Jordan was found unresponsive in his cell at Georgia State Prison in Reidsville around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday. The agency says prison staff tried unsuccessfully to revive him. A doctor pronounced Jordan dead at 4:24 a.m. Jordan was serving life in prison without parole on a Clayton County murder conviction.
Corrections officials previously said Stephen Beck was found unresponsive in his cell at Wilcox State Prison Monday, and Jamika Harrison was found unresponsive in her cell at Pulaski State Prison Sunday.
The agency says all three deaths are being investigated, which is standard when an inmate dies in custody.
