Atlanta Named Finalist In Amazon Headquarter Sweepstakes

Atlanta has been selected as one of the finalist for Amazon’s second headquarters.

238 cities across North America put in bids to host Amazon’s HQ2 this past year, but only 20 made the final cut.

The other cites include the following:

Atlanta; Austin; Boston; Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas; Denver; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; Miami; Montgomery County, Maryland; Nashville; Newark; New York City; Northern Virginia; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Raleigh; Toronto and Washington, D.C.

Amazon plans to invest five-billion dollars into it’s second headquarters city once they evaluate how practical a partnership would be with each city and its surrounding infrastructure.

The facility is expected to bring as many as 50,000 new high-paying jobs.

“This truly has been a collaborative effort and I believe our success is a direct result of our teamwork and willingness to focus on results,” said Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms adding, “I am excited to move forward into this next phase of the process, and I look forward to continuing to work with Governor Deal, Commissioner Wilson, and all of our stakeholders to make sure Atlanta puts forth the strongest, most competitive bid possible.”

Amazon plans to make its final decision sometime in 2018.
