The Morning Show with John Fricke and Hugh Douglas spent days debating on the air and took to social media (Twitter and Facebook) to let their listeners help determine the five biggest sports stories of 2017. Before we get to No. 2, let’s briefly mention that this vote — the social media survery’s you the listeners chimed in on — was extremely close.

Atlanta United landing at No. 3 was only a matter of a few percentage points. That’s how hot these Five Stripes were in 2017 and just how scorching a story UGA has been.


Reclaiming glory, glory to ole Georgia.

Kirby Smart needed only two seasons to turn the fortunes around in Athens. Taking the Dawgs all the way to the No. 1 spot in the first CFP Poll and eventually to the SEC Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. What’s more for UGA fans is a knowledge that this is not a one-off and that the Dawgs will be major contenders for conference and national title honors multiple times in the years to come.
