The bright lights and high energy of the Las Vegas strip were dimmed October 1st; when gunman Stephen Paddock, opened fire on concert goers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival. Thousands of innocent people ran for their lives as retired accountant Paddock began firing hundreds of rounds from his semiautomatic rifles, leaving 58 people dead and 546 injured. Officials are still trying to wrap their heads around Paddocks motive for executing the deadliest mass shooting by a lone gunman in United States history from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
After police siege the room, they found that Paddock had committed suicide. They also found an arsenal of firearms that included; 23 rifles, a handgun, four DDM4 rifles, three FN-15 rifles, one AR-15 rifle, one .308-caliber AR-10, one AK-47, and at least one made-to-order LMT rifle. Two of the rifles were resting on bipods, and were equipped with high-tech telescopic sights. Twelve of the weapons were outfitted with bump fire stocks. It is also reported that Paddock’s arsenal included a large quantity of ammunition in special high capacity magazines, holding up to 75, or up to 100 cartridges each.
With so many wanting answers, the FBI held a press conference Wednesday, December 20th and stated that the agency probably wouldn’t release a statement to the public until the tragedy’s first anniversary.
