ATLANTA — The Atlanta Falcons lost their first game of the season Sunday, a 23-17 setback to the Buffalo Bills at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Falcons were already without starters Vic Beasley, Ryan Schraeder, Ricardo Allen and Courtney Upshaw prior to the game, then the team lost both starting wide receivers — Julio Jones (hip) and Mohamed Sanu (hamstring) officially at halftime.

Another stat that Falcons fans might want to relax about, but should know because it’s now a trend it seems, Atlanta is 0-3 under head coach Dan Quinn the week before the team has a bye.

In 2015 Atlanta traveled to San Francisco and lost 17-16 in Week 9 before their Week 10 bye. The 2016 loss came against the Philadelphia Eagles 24-15.

Dropping Sunday’s game by six points to Buffalo makes it three seasons straight the Falcons will spend a good portion of their bye week reeling from an unexpected loss.
