Rashad Richey host of “Real Talk with Rashad Richey” on News and Talk 1380 WAOK moderated the Atlanta Mayoral Forum sponsored by community non-profit Georgia Stand-Up on Thursday at the I.B.E.W. Auditorium. This forum included 12 of the 13 candidates for Mayor of Atlanta. Questions about inclusionary zoning, housing and criminal justice were asked. During the “rapid fire” segment, candidates were instructed to respond by holding up a placard that displayed a “yes” or “no”.  Richey asked the candidates if they believe police officers target or racially profile black and brown men. All the candidates held up their placards with the word “yes” displayed  except Norwood. Councilwoman Mary Norwood instead reached for her microphone and asked Richey if he meant inside of Atlanta or outside of Atlanta. Richey repeated the question then asked Norwood specifically is she believed police officers racially profile black and brown men in Atlanta. Norwood’s initial lack of response sparked reaction from the audience which lead Richey to press Norwood further and she eventually lifted her placard to respond “yes”.
