Some bad habits are hard to beat, and Doris Payne has lost another battle. The notorious 86-year-old jewel thief who has stolen about $2 million worth of valuables during her lifetime was back at it again Monday night.

This time, according to police, Payne stole $86.22 worth of goods from the Walmart on Chamblee Tucker Road in Dekalb County.

The police report details that employees witnessed Payne nab electronics, groceries and items from the pharmacy, placing some items in her cart and others in her purse and Walmart shopping bag.

Payne was arrested and taken to Chamblee jail on charges of theft by shoplifting, then later released after posting bail.

During the time of her arrest, she was wearing an electronic ankle monitor from a previous arrest where a judge sentenced her to 120 days house arrest after she confessed to stealing a $2,000 necklace from a store in a Dekalb county mall.

WAOK will have the latest details on Payne’s charges and sentencing.
