Four days after it was first reported that forward Paul Millsap had moved on from Atlanta to sign a three-year, $90 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, he gathered his thoughts and took to social media to say thank you and bid farewell.

“Tried to find the words to better help explain how much the fans and the city of Atlanta has meant to me but words can not explain it,” Millsap wrote on his Instagram account. “From an average Joe to a 4 time All [Star]. Atlanta I could not have done it without you. Thank you for an amazing 4 years! Thank you for embrace me and my family and for always having my back. I will always hold a special place in my heart for you. #truetoatlanta #anchormanout #untilnexttime”

Millsap spent four seasons with the Hawks and averaged 17.4 points per game during his stint in Atlata. He was a four-time All-Star and averaged north of 20 minutes per game each season.
