In response to several reports of huge crowds of four-wheelers and dirt bikes clogging the streets,
the Atlanta City Council is considering an ordinance that would increase fines for riders of all-terrain vehicles caught on city streets.
District 12 Atlanta City Councilwoman Joyce Sheperd introduced the ordinance set to deter all-terrain vehicle owners.
The current fine for first-time violators riding a dirt bike or ATV on Atlanta roads is 250-dollars.
The proposed ordinance would increase that fine up to one-thousand dollars. The second violation would result in six months of jail time.
Sheperd’s ordinance is up for discussion during the council’s public safety and legal administration committee meeting June 27th at 3pm in City Hall
WAOK will have the latest updates on this developing story.
