[UPDATE: The Atlanta Hawks have confirmed the trade of Dwight Howard to the Charlotte Hornets.]

The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a deal with the Hornets to send center Dwight Howard to Charlotte, according to Marc Spears of ESPN on Tuesday.

Spears reports, from sources, that Atlanta will send Howard and the first pick in the second round (No. 31) to Charlotte for Miles Plumlee, Marco Bellineli and their second-round pick, No. 41.

The question shouldn’t be whether or not the Hawks got full value for Howard, there’s plenty of time for that debate. The better question is whether or not this is a one-off deal or the beginning of a tear-down in Atlanta.
