The historical significance of Super Bowl 51 isn’t lost on anyone in Boston, Atlanta or, quite frankly, the sports world in general. New England’s come-from-behind victory in February was the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.
Being on the right side of such an important win doesn’t seem to be enough for the Patriots.
The Patriots got a shipment in Friday that consisted of more hardware from the big win; their Super Bowl rings. And beset in those rings were 283 diamonds.
It’s impossible for Falcons fans to forget that a 6-yard pass from Matt Ryan to running back Tevin Coleman put Atlanta up 28-3 with 8:31 to play in the third quarter. From that point forward, New England scored 31 unanswered points to take home the win in overtime fashion.
New England’s Super Bowl rings are an example of a harsh, but top-notch troll job; a rub-it-in-your-face jab that stings four months after the game. Adding to the jab, the Patriots hired Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane to perform at the ring ceremony.
