FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Falcons moved up five spots in the 2017 NFL Draft and selected Takkarist McKinley, a pass-rushing defensive end from UCLA with the 26th pick. Atlanta swapped first-round picks and gave up their third- and seventh-round 2017 picks to trade with Seattle.

McKinley posted 10 sacks and 18 tackles for loss during his senior season for the Bruins.

The 6-foot-2 defensive end ran a 4.59-second 40-yard dash at the combine and is well known for his work ethic and non-stop motor.

When McKinley took the stage to join commissioner Roger Goodell he carried a portrait of his grandmother with him. When he proceeded to NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders he completed a fiery, expletive-laden interview with the simple response, “Fine me later.”
