I always say that professional sports are the best reality shows on television and this past week in the NFL is proving why. Many of the teams that stumbled early are going on a roll to fight for a spot in the playoffs while division leaders try to separate themselves from the pack. Through all of the questionable calls and wild finishes, here is my top ten rankings.
1. Dallas Cowboys (10-1)
Dak and Zeke continue to roll, now winning their 10th game in a row. Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 97 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Dak Prescott passed for 195 yards, threw one touchdown and ran for another in a 31-26 win over Washington.
2. New England Patriots (9-2)
New England defeated the New York Jets 22-17. With the win Tom Brady tied Peyton Manning for the most wins by a quarterback in NFL history. The Patriots host the L.A. Rams and their rookie QB Jared Goff this week.
3. Oakland Raiders (9-2)
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr overcame a dislocated pinky finger to help Oakland defeat the Carolina Panthers 35-32. The Raiders have won five games in a row and while Carr had a nice game, it was The Khalil Mack Show on defense. Mack had a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pick six. The next game for Oakland is against the Buffalo Bills.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (8-3)
The Chiefs survived a tough battle against the Denver Broncos, winning 30-27 in overtime. Chiefs’ kicker Cairo Santos banged one off of the upright and in to seal the victory, while rookie Tyreek Hill led K.C. with three touchdowns. The Chiefs head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons this week.
5. New York Giants (8-3)
The Giants defeated the Cleveland Browns 27-13. Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes, two of them to star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The win gives New York their sixth in a row and next up for the Giants is a trip to Pittsburgh to play on Sunday afternoon.
6. Atlanta Falcons (7-4)
The Falcons got a surprise MVP as Taylor Gabriel took two short passes to the house for scores. Devonta Freeman also had two touchdowns and the Atlanta defense stepped up late giving the Falcons a 38-19 victory over Arizona. This week the Falcons stay home to host the Kansas City Chiefs.
7. Detroit Lions (7-4)
The Lions have won three in a row but two of those games have come against the Vikings, who have lost five of their last six games. With the 16-13 win over Minnesota, the Lions are currently in the lead for the NFC North and will go to New Orleans this week.
8. Miami Dolphins (7-4)
Miami has won six games in a row as the hold on to defeat San Francisco 31-24. Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill threw three TDs with no turnovers in the win. Miami goes on the road to Baltimore this week.
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-5)
The Buccaneers have now won three straight games with a 14-5 win over Seattle. This win gives them a fighting chance at a playoff spot and with the way their defense is playing, they just might take one. The Bucs are off to the West Coast this week to take on San Diego.
10. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5)
The Steelers beat the Colts 28-7. Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown connected for three touchdowns and with back to back wins, they keep their playoff hopes alive. The New York Giants come to town this week to take on the Steelers.
