Matt Ryan has had an efficient day against the tough Cardinals pass defense connecting with eight different receivers. While star wideout Julio Jones has gotten his catches, six of them to be exact, he has just 47 yards and no touchdowns. So, where has the explosiveness come from you ask? That would be speedy slot receiver Taylor Gabriel.READ MORE: Buford Man Indicted in $650 Million Ponzi Scheme
Gabriel ripped off a 35-yard touchdown after hauling in a screen pass from Ryan in the first half. Then, in the fourth quarter with the Falcons looking to extend their lead, Gabriel did it once again. This time, it was from 25 yards out on virtually the exact same play. Gabriel ended it with a bit more flair, diving Superman-style into the end zone for his second score of the day.
The touchdown gave the Falcons a 31-13 lead. If they can hang on to win, it would be their seventh victory of the season and would allow them to at least keep their one game lead over the Buccaneers pending Tampa’s game against Seattle later today.
