ATHENS – The Kirby Smart era went off with a bang Saturday as the Black team beat the Red team 34-14 in front of a record 93,000 fans at G-Day.

Freshman quarterback Jacob Eason saw action for the Red team, connecting with fellow freshman Isaac Nauta on a seven yard touchdown pass. For the day, the prize recruit was 19-29 for 244 yards and no interceptions.

Star running back Nick Chubb took the scrimmage in from the sideline as he continues his rehab from a serious knee injury last October. In his stead, freshman Tae Crowder ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Black team.

Senior wideout Reggie Davis had a standout performance, leading all receivers with six catches for 134 yards.
