The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released new information regarding the shooting death of Riverdale Police Major Greg Barney. According to authorities, an autopsy shows that Barney was shot four times.
In a statement Tuesday, GBI officials say the 25-year police veteran was wounded in his abdomen, arm, leg, and lower back Feb. 11th. Officials say two wounds weren’t immediately visible.
It is said Barney was working as an on-site supervisor while Clayton County police searched an apartment building during a drug investigation.
Investigators say Barney saw 24-year-old Jerand Ross flee the building as authorities went inside and was shot after he chased him. Another officer wounded Ross, who is charged with murder and still hospitalized.
Public visitation for Barney will be held on Friday, Feb. 19th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home and then from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the City of Riverdale Town Center. A funeral for is set for Saturday, Feb 20th.
