Rowan County Clerk, Kim Davis, was released from jail to a hail of praise after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples, citing her religious beliefs as a conflict of interest. Instead of resigning from her elected position Kim Davis held firm to her beliefs and told a Rowan County Judge that she would in fact interfere with her subordinates attempting to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. While many in the conservative religious community consider her to be a hero, many are calling her acts senseless, due to the potential of being held in contempt of court again, which could result in further jail time and a fine.
