Burrell Ellis, the suspended CEO of DeKalb County, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison. He is to spend 18 months in prison. Judge Courtney Johnson also ordered Ellis to pay a $1,000 fine.
It was on July 1 that Ellis was found guilty of perjury and attempted theft by extortion.
He could have gotten as much as 15 years in prison.
