Sentencing for suspended Dekalb County CEO Burrell Ellis is set for Wednesday, July 8. A jury of 6 men and 6 women found Ellis guilty of 4 of the 9 counts against him. He was accused of forcing county vendors into contributing to his campaign. He was found guilty of one count of criminal attempt to commit theft by extortion and three counts of perjury.
The latest proceeding was a re-trial of Ellis, after a previous jury could not agree on any charges against him and the judge declared a mistrial after 11 days of deliberation.
