Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill has issued a statement following a shooting Sunday night in Gwinnett County. Police say that Hill called 911 Sunday evening to report the shooting as being accidental. They say it happened in the office of real estate agent Gwenevere McCord inside a model home, and that she and Hill were the only two at the scene when the shooting occurred. Reports indicate that the 43 year old McCord was shot in the stomach and remains hospitalized at Gwinnett Medical Center. The shooting occurred in an unincorporated area of Lawrenceville in the Park Haven Community.
“As reported on May 3, 2015, I was involved in a tragic and heartbreaking accident”, according to Hill. “Gwenevere McCord, who is very dear to me, was critically injured in this accident.” Hill also says, “Please understand that for the past 48 hours, I have been entirely focused on Gwenevere and her family. I will continue to pray unceasingly for her recovery.” He asks for prayers for “Gwenevere and her family throughout this most difficult time.”
Though Hill has not been charged in the incident, reports indicate that his car, clothing, and two guns are being processed.
