TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — The last University of Alabama home gymnastics meet before the SEC championship ended with one of the team’s seniors accepting a marriage proposal.

Former University of Alabama football player and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Kevin Norwood helped hand out awards after Alabama’s meet against Oklahoma Friday night. After awards were given and team photos were taken, Norwood dropped to one knee and asked Kayla Williams, of Huntington, West Virginia, to marry him.

According to the team’s website Williams earned a bachelor’s in public relations and is now pursuing a master’s in sports management.

Williams told Al.com the proposal at Coleman Coliseum was a shock. Norwood said he was nervous and that waiting for the meet to end was the longest two hours of his life.
