According to CBSSports.com’s Jerry Hinnen, four-star linebacker recruit Roquan Smith has committed to play football at the University of Georgia next season.  Smith announced the news via a photo posted to his Instagram account this morning.

The decision comes a week after Smith had announced on National Signing Day that he would attend UCLA.  He withheld his NLI (National Letter of Intent) however when rumors came out that the Bruins defensive coordinator Jeff Ullbrich would be moving on to the NFL. The move has been seen as a possible revolutionary one in recruiting circles. Recruits are locked in on National Signing Day as most send in their NLI and may find out days later that the coach who recruited them will be leaving.

Smith, a 6 foot 2 205 pound prospect from Montezuma, Ga is the number 47 overall ranked recruit in the class of 2015.  With the signing Georgia’s class moves up in the rankings to sixth in 247 sports composite team rankings.
