Both Atlanta and Arizona lost last week and both want to ensure they don’t lose a second straight game either. As always, injuries are one of the X-Factors in football. Fortunately for both the Cardinals and Falcons, the injuries were relatively minor with neither team having double-digit numbers of injuries. Unfortunately for both teams, at least one player on each team is guaranteed to not be suiting up this game.
Cornerback Robert Alford (wrist) is the only Falcon who will definitely not be playing this game. The starting cornerback didn’t practice at all this week. Javier Arenas is listed as Alford’s backup so expect to see him take the field for most of Alford’s plays. Wide receiver Roddy White (ankle) and defensive tackle Paul Soliaj (non-injury related) are listed as questionable as neither man participated in any practices this week. Corey Peters is listed as Solaij’s backup and there are three possible replacements for White: Eric Weems, Devin Hester and Drew Davis would be the likely candidates.
Part of the listing of Weems is the man he normally backs up, Harry Douglas (foot) is also listed this week. Fortunately, Douglas and the rest of the Falcons on this list are all considered probable. The other offensive player is backup tackle Jonathan Scott (hamstring) and on the defense, safety William Moore (shoulder) rounds out the list for the Dirty Birds. Scott is listed as the third-string right tackle so his inability to play shouldn’t be a factor. Of course Moore is the starting safety but the good news is that his backup, Kemal Ishmael has been getting a decent amount of reps in the game so that shouldn’t be too much of a concern.
Arizona has eight players on this week’s injury report. Both inside linebacker Kenny Demens (hamstring) and defensive end Ed Stinson (toe) are out for the game. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald (knee) is the lone Cardinal listed as questionable this week. He didn’t practice at all Wednesday or Thursday but was back to limited action on Friday.
The final five Cardinals are all listed as probable. Some players were limited throughout the week but the one constant between these five men is they all were able to fully participate in practice on Friday. On the defensive side of the ball includes outside linebackers Lorenzo Alexander (knee) and Marcus Bernard (shoulder). On the offensive side, the three men listed are all skills positions. Wide receiver John Brown (teeth), running back Andre Ellington (foot/hip) and quarterback Drew Stanton (ankle).
Kickoff for this Week 12 game is scheduled for 4:05 pm ET. #RiseUp
- Probable: a 75% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
- Questionable: a 50% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
- Doubtful: a 25% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
- Out: there is no chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
