ATLANTA (AP) — Jurors are set to begin deliberating in the trial of suspended DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis.
Closing arguments wrapped up Monday after nearly three weeks of testimony, including three days of testimony by Ellis that concluded on Friday.
Ellis is charged with bribery, theft, extortion and perjury. He’s accused of pressuring county contractors into giving him contributions for his 2012 re-election campaign.
Ellis testified Friday that he made phone calls, but he said he didn’t threaten anyone or take action against vendors’ contracts.
