ATLANTA (WAOK)-Get ready for one of the busiest weekends of the year in Atlanta.  Labor Day Weekend offers everything from college football to free concerts to sci-fi parades.

Check out the list below and enjoy your weekend in the “A”.

Its the 9th annual LUDADAY WEEKEND with private parties and a CELEBRITY BASKETBALL GAME Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Georgia State University Sports Arena, 125 Decatur Street. This year its Ludacris and his record label Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP)  playing against Lil Wayne and his record label Young Money. You never know who will show up for this.  You will need a ticket to get in. Log onto Eventbrite for the details.

Atlanta Black Pride weekend. Thursday, Aug. 28th – Monday, September 1st.  The festivities will feature singer Tamar Braxton and many others. The 2nd Annual Pure Heat Community Festival will take place on Sunday, Aug. 31st from 12 pm – 8pm at the historic Piedmont Park. with market and food vendors, a live performance from Faith Evans, educational forums, prizes & giveaways.

DRAGON CON annual sci-fi, fantasy & comic fan convention in Atlanta. The lineup includes Lou Ferrigno, Giancarlo Esposito, Patrick Stewart, Walter Koenig,  and too many other past and present sci fi stars to name. Not to mention lots of regular folks dressed like super heroes and comic book characters. You have got to see the costumes and don’t miss the annual parade on Saturday morning at 10 am downtown. Most of the events take place in and around the Marriott Marquis Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Decatur Book Festival features NBA All Star Joe Barry Carroll at the nation’s largest independent book festival.
Seafood and Music Festival in Riverdale.  The event takes place on Saturday during Labor Day weekend at the Riverdale Town Center. This  event features live music and lots of seafood.  The event also includes activities for children of all ages. This year there will also be a performance by Miles Jaye
Atlanta Caribbean Jerk Festival, Sunday August 31 at Panthersville Stadium in Decatur featuring Chubb Rock and more. You will need a ticket for this event.
Drake headlines a concert featuring Lil Wayne Sunday, Aug 31 7:00p at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood.
The Wolf Creek Funk Party Saturday August 30 features Morris Day, SOS Band, Midnight Star and Brick
A “Back In The Day” Concert and Cabaret for “One Night Only with Platinum Recording Artist and Producer ~ Norman Connors and The Starship Orchestra,  Sunday, Aug 31 8:00p  at the Monarch Ballroom in Duluth, GA
Advocare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway NASCAR Night Race under the lights Sunday at 7:30 pm
Chic Fil A Kickoff Classic the 8/30 Georgia Dome football game between Alabama Crimson Tide and West Virginia Mountaineers is the  headline event for this football festival.
Georgia Tech opens its football season on Saturday against the Wofford Terriers  at Bobby Dodd Stadium
University of Georgia Bulldogs take on Clemson Tigers in Athens on Saturday
Atlanta Braves host the Miami Marlins all weekend
 (The Falcons play their last preseason game on Thursday and Clark Atlanta and Morehouse start their schedule the following weekend)
Other interesting stuff:
Callaway Gardens annual Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival kicks off with the Friday Night Balloon Glow and continues through Sunday, with hot air balloons in flight and opportunities for visitors to take their own tethered balloon ride.
Take Monday off and just enjoy a lazy day on the river. The Labor Day Paddle happens Monday, Sept 1 from 9:00a to 1:00p at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, GA ! Ages 6 – Adult; tickets are $30 General Public/$25 CNC Members; Registration Required by August 28th.
If you are looking for something different to do… how about a Decatur Ghost Tour. In historic downtown Decatur, Georgia, discover Decatur’s spirit community with tales of . . . Murder, Passion, Vice, War and Tragedy. Your tour begins in the historic Town Square, and includes a twilight visit to Old Decatur Cemetery.
