Texas Southern University will face Cal Poly Wednesday in a first-round play-in game of the NCAA Tournament in Dayton, Ohio.

The Tigers won the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament Championship Saturday with a 78-73 victory over rival Prairie View in Houston. TSU received a No. 16 seed in the 68-team tournament and is making its fifth overall NCAA appearance but first since 2003.

Cal Poly (13-19) enters the contest as the Big West Champion and is also a No. 16 seed. This is their very first NCAA appearance.

After claiming the SWAC Tournament Championship Saturday, TSU has now become the third difference school Mike Davis has led to the NCAA Tournament.The winner faces last season’s Final Four participant, Wichita State (34-0) – the first undefeated team to enter the NCAA Tournament since UNLV in 1991 and is the Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament champion.

Texas Southern and Cal Poly will tipoff at 5:40 on truTV from the University of Dayton Arena.
