“It is so encouraging that my hometown Atlanta Hawks are partnering with The King Center and providing leadership to encourage young people to embrace nonviolence in commemorating the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday,” says Bernice A. King, CEO of The King Center in an article on the Atlanta Daily World. She goes on to say, “Professional athletes have unique credibility with young people, and when they take a stand against violence, it resonates throughout the community.”

“The Atlanta Hawks take great pride in supporting the campaign for nonviolence, uplifting our youth and paying tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” stated Bob Williams, President, Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena according to the Atlanta Daily World. “Every day we have the opportunity to make an impact, and we thank the King Center for encouraging our youth to do that through choosing nonviolence.”
