FLOWERY BRANCH – When the Atlanta Falcons take on San Francisco on Monday night, it will be without two of their more productive rookies.

The club ruled safety Zeke Motta and wide receiver Darius Johnson both out for the game against the 49ers. Motta, in his first year out of Notre Dame, is dealing with a neck injury. Johnson, currently sixth on the team in receiving yards, has an ankle injury.

The news is an especially big blow to Motta, who just got his first career start in Week 15 thanks to an injury to veteran Thomas DeCoud.

DeCoud leads a list of Falcons who hope to play Monday night despite being hampered by injuries. The club says DeCoud is “probable” as he comes back from a concussion. Tight end Tony Gonzalez, linebacker Sean Weatherspoon and running back Antone Smith are all listed as “questionable”.
