Alabama Quarterback, AJ McCarron, joined the Morning Show Friday to talk about his last year of his college football career.

McCarron was recently in New York as a Heisman nominee; it was his first time ever being in New York.  He was runner-up to Heisman winner Jameis Winston and “he’s been a good player for Florida State this year… You definitely can’t take anything away from him.”

When asked about keep a good name while being in the spotlight unlike a guy like Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, McCarron said “I just try to stay humble and not bring any bad spotlight myself, especially my last name and then University has been so good to me. I mean, that’s just the way I am and that’s the way I was brought up; that’s just the way I act.”

This is AJ McCarron’s last season as a college quarterback and will play his last game at the Sugar Bowl, January 2, 2014. He’s more focused on this last game than the upcoming NFL draft. “I’ve been a part of this program for 5 year, so it’s only right for me to finish out strong. I’ve never put my self in front of my teammates before, so I don’t plan on it doing it because we’re not playing in the National Championship.” To McCarron, the still have a chance to prove their the best team in the country.

The biggest headline as of late was if Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban was going to be coaching at Texas. AJ spoke to Saban about the rumors: “[Saban told me] ‘I ain’t going anywhere…I don’t want to start another program back up. Coach [Saban] has never lied to me in five years…so I don’t know why he would with only a couple games to go.” Asked more about his relationship with Saban, McCarron said: “I’m not a very ‘need love’ type of guy…” laughing when asked whether Saban tucks him in at night.

Of course, AJ, will be prepping for the 2014 NFL draft said all scouts need to do is look at his film from his time at Alabama. “The good thing about the NFL is it only takes one [team] to like you…hopefully one will and I’ll help them win some ball games.”
