Today on Powertalk with Lorraine Jacques-White, we discussed the Atlanta Braves pending decision to leave Turner Field and build a new stadium in Cobb County, which will open at the beginning of the 2017 season.

Although this announcement is considered to be sudden by fans of the Braves and Atlanta residents, team officials claim to have been in talks with Mayor Kasim Reed for months now, in efforts to avoid moving the team to a new stadium.

Mayor Kasim Reed stated that it would cost Atlanta residents millions of dollars in taxes to complete the repairs and local infrastructure additions that the Braves are requesting.

To the surprise of many the Atlanta City Council was unaware of such negotiations until the announcement was made.
