ATLANTA (WAOK)-Whether you are from Atlanta or you are visiting this weekend the following information will be essential to you. Labor Day Weekend is one of the biggest tourist weekends in the Atlanta area with everything from college football to free concerts to sci-fi parades. Atlanta police are advising motorists to remember to adhere to the APD’s Clean Car Campaign by removing all valuables before you exit your vehicle. Consider taking MARTA to events, or carpooling, to minimize the traffic volume. Call 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activity. Be sure to pay attention to any “No
Parking” signs to avoid citations or fines. If you park in the wrong place you may end up with your car booted or towed to the impound lot.

Its LUDA Weekend. Private parties, Team Ludacris vs Team Usher in a celebrity basketball game Sunday 2 pm to 6 pm at Georgia State University sports arena

Atlanta Black Gay Pride weekend. Thursday, Aug. 29th – Monday, September 2nd.  The festivities will feature R&B/POP superstar Kelly Rowland and singer actress Brandy . The 2nd Annual Pure Heat Festival will take place on Sunday, Sept. 1st from 12 pm – 8 pm at the historic Piedmont Park  with market and food vendors, live performances and entertainment, educational forums, prizes & giveaways.
Decatur Book Festival keynote speaker Congressman John Lewis the nation’s largest independent book festival, which includes authors such as Lily Koppel, author of The Astronaut Wives, panel discussions, children’s activities — even cooking demonstrations.
DRAGON CON annual sci-fi, fantasy & comic fan convention in Atlanta. The lineup includes Lou Ferrigno, William Shatner, Billy Dee Williams, George Takei and Lee Majors, among others — plus lots of regular folks dressed like super heroes and comic book characters. Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday.  You have got to see the costumes!
Advocare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway Labor Day NASCAR Night Race under the lights Sunday at 7:30 pm
Chic Fil A kickoff classic the 8/31 Georgia Dome football game between Alabama Crimson Tide and Virginia Tech Hokies is headline event for this football festival, which also includes a Sheryl Crow concert at Centennial Olympic Park, August 31,
Georgia Tech opens its football season on Saturday against Elon Phoenix at Bobby Dodd Stadium
Georgia State University vs. Samford University, Georgia Dome, August 30
Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins, Turner Field, Friday through Sunday
Action Dash 5k, Piedmont Park, September 2
Callaway Gardens annual Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival kicks off with the Friday Night Balloon Glow and continues through Sunday, with hot air balloons in flight and opportunities for visitors to take their own tethered balloon ride.
Seafood and Beer Festival in Riverdale.  The event takes place during Labor Day weekend at the Riverdale Town Center. This  event features live music, international beer stations and an alluring display of fish, crab, scallops, and other seafood.  The event also includes activities for children of all ages.
FREE Al Jarreau concert  in Union City Sunday Sept 1 at Shannon Mall 8 pm. bring two canned goods. Lawn chairs and coolers are ok but leave your glass containers and grills at home
