AUSTELL, Ga. (AP) — Hundreds of people said goodbye to a Georgia high school football player who died after being hurt in a scrimmage.

WSB-TV reports that students and teachers were among the crowd at the funeral held Saturday in Austell for Creekside High School player De’Antre Turman of Union City.

The 16-year-old died after breaking his neck during a scrimmage against Benjamin Banneker High School in College Park last week. A coach says he went limp after making a tackle.

Friends say Turman was a strong-willed person with strong faith.

Coaches say the Seminoles cornerback had a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky.
