According to Dave O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman won’t be able to play in Tuesday’s All-Star Game because of a thumb injury that he sustained while making a tag against the Reds on Saturday. He’s out of the Atlanta lineup for Sunday’s game. Freeman won the All-Star “Final Vote” over Yasiel Puig of the Dodgers, among others.

This season, the 23-year-old Freeman is batting .308/.386/.468 with nine homers and 19 doubles. He also grades out as a plus fielder at the position.

It’s not yet certain whom NL manager Bruce Bochy will name to replace Freeman on the National League roster.
