Game Time caught up with Hawks head coach Larry Drew this afternoon. He talked about the effect of the trade deadline on the team, and the current win streak. “Certainly, during the training camp and through the deadline, I’d like to think the trade deadline wasn’t an issue,” said Drew, “I feel we have some professional guys.” In regards to the streak, “We’re very focused right now.  It’s different when you’re going out for a 11-day, six-day trip and we want to continue to get better and keep up the momentum.”

The play of Josh Smith and Al Horford has anchored the team during the run, “Those two guys ( Smith and  Horford) are our bookends and when they’re playing the way they’re playing, we’re difficult to beat.  Al is playing at a very high level right now.”

About his impending contract discussions, “Whatever happens with my contract happens.  I’ll sit down with my agent at the end of the year and hash this out.” And the playoff push: “With 26 games left, we want to finish strong.  We haven’t talked about the playoffs yet with the guys, but we will, there’s a lot of basketball left to be played.”
