On a night where many had already put a mark in the loss column for the Falcons it turned out to be anything but a loss. Last night’s 27-21 Falcons’ victory couldn’t have been scripted any better, unless you’re a Broncos fan and if that’s the case my apologizes but it’s true.

Not that every win isn’t important but for a team that hadn’t won on Monday Night Football since their December 2005 victory versus the Saints the Falcons needed this win not only for the franchise but for QB Matt Ryan who until last night was 0-and-3 on Monday Night Football. Ryan completed 24 of 36 for 219 yards and two touchdowns in the victory but it was the performance of his counterpart Peyton Manning that everyone is talking about this morning.

Even though the score doesn’t really reflect it, Peyton Manning had one of his worst games in recent memory. Manning complete 24 of 37 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown but it was his three interceptions in the first quarter that sealed the fate of the Broncos.

The future Hall of Fame QB’s passes were so wobbly the only thing missing was the rapper V.I.C. and my co-worker Frank Ski…

The last time Manning was intercepted three times in the first quarter of a game was in the Colts 23-21 loss to the Chargers in 2007.

Winning Cures All Things:

Last night’s win erased last year’s awful loss on MNF when the Falcons gave up the league’s single-season record for most passing yards, to Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in a 45-16 loss on Dec. 26, 2011.

Hats Off To Our QB!

Matt Ryan threw his 100th career touchdown pass, in the Dirty Bird’s Monday Night win becoming only the 2nd quarterback (Steve Bartkowski 154 TDs) in Falcons history to pass for 100 or more touchdowns. His 100th TD was to the receiver that has become his favorite target, Roddy White who finished the night with 102 yards receiving and a score.

Did You Know? That since Ryan became quarterback in 2008 Roddy White has 14 games with 100 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. The only player with more such games over that span is Calvin Johnson.

The Falcons visit the Chargers this Sunday.
